Notes - On the sad night of Feb. 8th, 1690, his Symon Groot's sons, Symon, Abraham, Philip, Dirk and Claas were taken captive by the French and Indians and carried to Canada; the following year they were redeemed. (Pearson, First Settlers of Schenectady.)

[2] - DIRK JANSE3 DE GROOT (Rebecca2 du Trieux, Philippe1 du Trieux) was born about 1670. He married Lysbeth Vander Volken, daughter of Claas Lourense Vander Volgen and Maritie Swart, in 1706.
Dirk Janse De Groot and Lysbeth Vander Volken had the following children:
i. ISAAC4 GROOT was born on 28 Jan 1724/25.
ii. NEELTJE GROOT was born on 06 May 1728. She married Pieter Van Vranken on 03 Mar 1748.
iii. SIMON GROOT.
iv. NICOLAAS GROOT. He married Maritje Tymessen on 01 Jan 1733.
v. CORNELIS GROOT. He married Maria Van Vranken, daughter of Andries Van Vranken, on 24 Nov 1752.
vi. SIMON DE GROOT. He died in 1713 in Schenectady, NY.
vii. PHILIPPUS GROOT. He married Elizabeth de Graaf, daughter of Andries de Graaf, on 20 Jun 1747.
viii. MARIA GROOT.
ix. ABRAHAM GROOT. He married Rachel de Graaf, daughter of Jesse de Graaf, on 04 Apr 1752.
x. REBECCA GROOT. She married Isaac Quackenboss on 27 Oct 1735.
