Death has called home another Civil War veteran, Fielden C. Allen, of Shultz, Ky.
Mr. Allen passed away at the home of his niece, Mrs. Charles Ross, 103 Offnere street, following an illness of complications.
Mr. Allen was a widely known and highly respected citizen of Greenup county, Kentucky. He was the son of the late James and Nancy Allen. He was born November 29, 1841, at Tiger, Ky. In 1868 he was united in marriage to Miss Elvira Hunt of Shultz, Ky. to this union was born eleven children, five of whom have passed to the Great Beyond. The following children survive: Mrs. Richard Davis, of Lafayette, Ind., and Mrs. Arch Davis, of Lafayette, Ind.; four sons, Harrison, of Randolph, O., John, James and Robert, of Shultz, 34 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren also survive. Two sisters and one brother survive, Mrs. Charles Wade, of Portsmouth; Mrs. Anne Dole, of Oak Hill, O., Josh Allen, of Portsmouth.
Mr. Allen joined the Methodist church at an early age and continued living a Christian life until death.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Thursday at Bennett's chapel, Shultz, Ky.
