Notes - Glenn Roderick Duncan, 91, of Purdin, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Life Care Center in Brookfield. A graveside service was held Friday, July 3, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Purdin Cemetery in Purdin. The family will receive friends at the Purdin Community Center following the service. Services are under the direction of Wright-Baker-Hill funeral Home in Brookfield. Memorials to the Purdin Community Center may be left or mailed to Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628. Glenn Roderick, son of William Hayden and Susan Mae (Palmer)Duncan, was born March 21, 1918, in Meadville. On July 6, 1940, he married Frances Lorene Smith in Milan; she preceded him in death on April 6, 1996. Glenn started working in the Purdin Mercantile in 1941, and became president of the company in 1973, and he retired with more that 50 years of service to the company. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn R. (Buddy) Duncan, Jr. and wife, Fern of Jefferson City, Edward L. Duncan and wife, Thelma of Lawson, and Fred R. Duncan and wife, Elaine of Purdin; six grandchildren,, Shelly Milford of Marceline, Tammy Ridgeway and husband, Dan of Jefferson City, Kim Betz and husband, Rex of Marshall, Lance Duncan and wife, Missi of Rayville, Tish Duncan and husband Brandon Cline of Chicago, and Tyler Duncan of Austin, Texas; ten great-grandchildren, Megan Milford, Sam and Max Betz, Ian DeFries, Danica and Carson Ridgeway, Matthew, Shelby, and Savannah Duncan, and Edy Cline. His parent, two brothers, Stanley Duncan and Ralph Duncan, and three sisters, Berdine Brooks, Edith Clark, and Vera Van Dyke also preceded him in death.
