- Esther Mae Shields, 71, Of Bluford Died
Mrs. Esther Mae Shields of RFD1, Bluford, died at 6:50 a.m. today in Fairfield memorial Hospital at the age of 71 years, 10 months, and 29 days.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Oakdale E.U.B. Church with the Rev. Wilson White and the Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Shields was born Dec. 10, 1891, in Veedersburg, Ind., the daughter of Charles and Sarah (Craft) Martin.
On Jan. 18, 1910, in Jefferson county, she was married to J.R. Shields, who preceded her in death on Sept. 25 of this years. Both Mrs. Shields and her husband were well known McNess dealers.
She is survived by one son, Chester Shields of Bluford; two daughters, Mrs. Lavin Keele of Dix and Mrs. Vera Simmons of Downers Grove, Ill.; two brothers, Everett martin of Dixon, Ill., and Elmer Martin of Danville, Ill.; three half-brothers, John and Glenn Crouch both of Bluford and Elton Martin of Los Angeles, Calif.; three half-sisters, Mrs. Ross Shields of Bluford, Mrs. Leland Wiggins of Inkster, Mich., and Mrs. J.E. Tate of Detroit, Mich.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
