Notes - Rites Wednesday at Bluford for Ross Shields.
Funeral services for Ross Shields will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Bluford Funeral Home with the Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery with members of Jefferson Post 141 American Legion conducting graveside rites.
The body will lie in state at the Bluford Funeral Home where friends may call at any time.
Mr. Shields, 74, of RFD 1., Bluford, died at 9>30 a.m. Monday in Good Samaritan Hospital.
He was born Jan. 8, 1893 in Jefferson county, the son of James and Alvina (Williams) Shields.
On May 19, 1918, he was married to Wintress Crough, who survives. Hs is also survived by a son, Garold Shields of Belleville; a daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Greek, at home; a brother, Dewey Shields; a half-brother, Tom Voyles, both of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Wretha Shields, and Doris Bain, both of Dixon, Ill., and two grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.
Mr. Shields was a veteran of World War One. [2]
