The Seventeenth Annual Hedges Reunion was held Sunday, August 18, 1946 at Lincoln Park, Danville, Illinois with 99 relatives and friends present. A basket dinner was served at the noon hour. George F. Hedges presided at the business meeting in the afternoon. Talks were given from those from distances and was enjoyed by all. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year. President J. W. Hedges, Vice President P. T. Hedges, Secretary Treasurer Anna Bagley. The next meeting will be held the 3rd Sunday in August 1947 in Missouri. Gifts were presented to the oldest man present, George F. Hedges, 79. Oldest woman was Mrs. Cora Hedges, 76 years old. The youngest was Robert Alan Yeazel, 3 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Yeazel. Newlyweds were Mr. and Mrs. John Hanks. The one coming the farthest was Jasper N. Hedges of Dubois, Wyoming, 1650 miles. There were 6 marriages, Betty Buckman and Dale Wood, Geraldine Hedges and Frank Pesorara, Betty Lou Smith and Frank Day, Lois Smith and Max Dodd, Roy Hedges and Inez Cola, Irene Smith and John Hanks. Notes - MHR note: Peter T. Hedges received a degree from Chillicothe Normal School, a B.S. degree from the University of Missouri, 1906; A. M. University of Missouri, 1907 with life certificate. He joined the Christian Church, Ogden, Illinois when 16. He was a Mason (Shriner) and Odd Fellow. He taught in Williamstown, Missouri high school for three years, and was in charge of Corin College, Corin, Missouri for two years; Bethany College, Bethany, West Virginia (the first Christian college, founded by Alexander Campbell) for one year; University of Missouri (Columbia, Missouri) three years; principle of schools, Shreveport, Louisiana for one year; and head of Natchitoches, Louisiana schools for ten years. He was in the contracting business awhile and in 1940 was an auto parts dealer and sold second hand cars.

Natchitoches, La. – Funeral services for Peter Thompson Hedges, 87, of Shreveport, are set for 2 p.m. today from First National Funeral Home in Natchitoches with Rev. Perry Webbs Jr. and Rev. George Pearce Jr. officiating.
He died at 4 a.m. Friday at his residence in Shreveport.
Survivors include her wife, Mrs. Beulah Lamb Hedges of Shreveport; one son, Forest L. Hedges of Natchitoches; two brothers, Cap Hedges of Wyoming and John Hedges of Purdin, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Charlie Bagley of Purdin, Mo. and Mrs. Mary S. Wood of Rock Port, Texas; one granddaughter,
He was a retired professor of mathematics at Northwestern State college and a past master and life member of Phoenix Lodge 38 F&AM, Natchitoches, and was a member of El Karubah Shrine.
Interment will be in Fern Park cemetery in Natchitoches under the direction of First National Funeral Home of Natchitoches.

Peter T. Hedges Dies at 87; Rites In Natchitoches
funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Natchitoches for Peter Thompson Hedges of Shreveport, once principal of the old Central High School here. He died early Friday at his home at 1936 Laurel at the age of 87.
Mr. Hedges was a native of Illinois but longtime resident of Natchitoches and Shreveport. Educated in Missouri, he began his teaching career after receiving his master's degree in that state, and came to Shreveport at Central High principal in 1908.
Later he organized the department of mathematics at Northwestern State College at Natchitoches, where he remained until the 1920's when he retired to enter the real estate business there.
He was a member of El Karubah Shrine here and a past master of the Phoenix Lodge 38 of Natchitoches, and life member of the Masonic organization. His pallbearers will be past master of Phoenix Lodge.
The Rev. Perry Webb Jr. will officiate at services at a First National Funeral Home chapel, assisted by the Rev. George Pierce Jr. Burial will be in Fern Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Beulah Lamb Hedges; one son, Forest L. Hedges, of Natchitoches; two brothers, Jap Hedges of Wyoming and John Hedges of Purdin, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Charley Bagley, Purdin; and Mrs. Mary Simpson, Wood, Rockport, Tex.; and one granddaughter.
