Robert was superintendent of schools, San Jose, Illinois, 1940. He graduated from Augusta high school in 1921 and B.S. Culver-Stockton in 192__. M.A. from University of Illinois (Urbana) in 1937. Received at Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. He was superintendent in Camden, Illinois for four years; Smithfield for five years; Mequon for two years. Theta Kappa Nu (Culver-Stockton).

- Lexington - Robert L. Yates, 78, Lexington, died Friday at a hospital here. He was born in Houston and had lived in Lexington 15 years. Mr. Yates had been superintendent of schools in the Illinois cities of Minonk, Atlanta, Cuba and San Jose. He taught in the junior college at Wentworth Military Academy, Lexington, for five years before he retired in 1974. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Minonk. He was a Mason and a member of the Lexington Country Club, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lois Yates of the home; a son, Roger Yates, Galveston, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Arthur, Lexington; a brother, Charles Yates, Reedsville, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Maxine Robinson, Seattle; and four grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Lexington United Methodist Church; cremation. The family suggests contributions to the Lexington United Methodist Church memorial fund.
