    Pauline Phillips Woodside, daughter of James and Kathryn Phillips, was born near LaSalle, Illinois, August 24, 1866, and passed away March 6, 1948. Age 81 years, 6 months and 13 days.
    She came to Missouri with her parents in 1884, where they settled on a farm east of Purdin, Missouri and there she spent all the remaining years of her life except the past three.
    She was united in marriage to John W. Woodside on February 11, 1885, and to this union nine children were born, five sons and four daughters.
    Her husband, one son, Jay, and an infant daughter preceded her in death.
    Those who survives her passing are: Alex and Jesse, of Purdin, Mo., Herman, of Trenton, Mo., Stewart, of Omak, Wash., May Wright, of Santa Paula, Calif., Sina Elliott of Brookfield, Pearl Guyer of Omak, Wash. Three sisters, Mrs. Kate White, Oglesby, Ill., Ada Jackson, Modale, Iowa, Eva Phillips and one brother, Newton Phillips, Riverside, Calif. Twenty three grandchildren and thirty one great grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
    She was united with the Grantsville Presbyterian Church on March 9, 1890.
    Funeral services were held at the Thorne Funeral Home in Linneus, on March 8, 1948, conducted by Rev. Kenneth Kelley of Brookfield. Her remains were taken to the Pleasant Grove cemetery and she was laid to rest beside her husband and son.

    Norman E. Woodside, 79, Purdin, died Friday at Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center. He was born Oct. 15, 1914 in Linn County, son of Jesse and Leanna (Jenkins) Woodside. He and Vivian Britton were married Feb. 14, 1937.
    She survives, of the home; also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Pat Woodside, Peculiar, and Rick and Teresa Woodside, Laclede; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Paul Stroud, Laclede, Linda and Tom King, Milan, and Norma Lea and Kenny Jenkins, Laclede; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Marlin and Vera Woodside, Purdin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie and Nelson Britton, Purdin, and Dorothy and Otto Hollon, Milan, and several nieces and nephews.
    Mr. Woodside was a retired farmer and a member of Bear Branch United Methodist Church.
    Services were held 2 p.m. Monday, at the church, with the "Rev. Billy Wayne Hines officiating. Burial was at Purdin Cemetery. Arrangements were by Wright Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church.

    Marlin Woodside, age 94, of Purdin, died Friday, December 9, 2011, at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield.

    A funeral service will be Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield with Rev. Steve Long officiating. Burial will be in Purdin Cemetery in Purdin. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening.

    Memorials to Bear Branch Church or Purdin Cemetery may be left at or mailed to Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628.

    Marlin Edward, son of Jesse William McKee and Mary Leeanna (Jenkins) Woodside, was born August 12, 1917, in Purdin. On May 29, 1937, he married Vera DeVore who preceded him in death on September 21, 2009.

    Mr. Woodside was a farmer. He also was a rock and lime hauler and worked as a maintenance person for the Grantsville Township. He was a member of the Bear Branch United Methodist Church in Purdin. He served on the Grantsville Township Board and served as an ASCS Committeeman.

    Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Finney and husband, Jerry of Purdin and Karen Stanley and husband, Bill of Independence; two sons, Lindel Woodside and wife, Deanna and Darrel Woodside and wife, Lorna all of Purdin; twelve grandchildren, Jan Finney Walker, Jeffrey Finney, Jeneil Finney, Randy Stanley, Rena Stanley, Rob Stanley, Dawn Woodside, Todd Woodside, Kelly Woodside, Steven Woodside, Bryan Murrell and Brett Murrell; 22 great-grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Hollon of Brookfield and one sister-in-law, Vivian Woodside of Brookfield.

    His parents, one brother, Norman Woodside, one sister and bother-in-law, Marjorie and Nelson Britton and a brother-in-law, Junior Hollon also preceded him in death.

    Dorothy Hollon age 87 of Brookfield, died Monday January 07, 2013 at McLarney Manor Skilled Nursing Center.

    She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Richard Fagan, Cotulla, TX; one granddaughter, Angela Jo Elson and James Head, Columbia; one grandson, Mark Everett Nickell and Amy, Brookfield; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie Fagan, Kansas City and Steve Fagan, Atlanta, GA; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy Elson, Columbia, Michael Nickell, Brookfield, Meagan Nickell, Kansas City, Alyssa Elson, Fayette, Spencer Nickell and Parker Nickell, Brookfield and Patrick Fagan, Atlanta, GA; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Woodside, Brookfield and Viva Haley, Browning, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    Dorothy is also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Norman Woodside and Marlin and wife Vera Woodside, one sister and husband, Marjorie and Nelson Britton, sisters-in-law, Lula and husband Woodrow Spencer, Opal Reger, and Imogene and husband Earl Peters and special friend, Otto Hollon.

    Linn County crash kills teen.
    A 19-year-old Browning man was killed in Linn County shortly after midnight last night when the car he was driving overturned, pinning him in the vehicle.
    Pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Wesley Rhodes was Clinton Dee Britton.
    The State Highway Patrol said Britton was traveling east on Route O in Browning at the Linn-Sullivan county line when his 1969 Dodge swerved off the north side of the road.
    The vehicle came back across the road, hit a concrete culvert, overturned in a ditch on the south side of the road, pinning Britton in the vehicle. The car was demolished.

    Clinton D. Britton was born April 25, 1960, the son of Nelson and Marjorie Woodside Britton. He attended school at the Linn County R-1 school in Browning.
    Funeral service will at at 2 o'clock Monday at the Browning Baptist Church with the Rev Clarence Barker officiating. Burial will be in the Purdin cemetery under the direction of the Wade Funeral Home in Browning.
    Survivors include his parents of the home, a twin brother, Charles, Browning; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lenna Woodside, Browning; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Britton, Browning.
