    Wilmore - Harvey Edgar Moody, 74, a retired mail carrier, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Good Samaritan Hospital Lexington, where he was admitted Friday night. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Ray E. Miller American Legion Post, the 40 & 9 and the VFW. He was a member of the Christian Church.
    Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carl Bradshaw, Lexington, and Mrs. R.L. Sweeny, Lake Jackson, Texas; four sons, the Rev. W.C. Moody, Owingsville; Hugh M. and George Moody, Wilmore and L.B. Moody, Vandenburg Air Base, California; two sisters, Mrs. Nela Blankenship and Mrs. Betty Davis, Lexington; a brother, Mike Moody, Jessamine County and 17 grandchildren.
    The body is at the Guyn, Kurtz and Hager Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sons, Carl W. (Brenda) Bradshaw Jr., and Freddie A. (Angie) Bradshaw, both of Lexington, KY; three daughters, Nellie B. (Dan) Hatfield and Linda J. (Sanford) Adams, both of Lexington, KY, and Frances (Harry C.) Risher, Greensburg, IN; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Stella Sweeney, Lake Jackson, TX. Funeral services will be 12pm Wed at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Main St. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Tues at the funeral home. Memorials to Trinity Baptist Church and Hospice of the Bluegrass.

    Harvey E. Moody Jr. Succumbs To Injuries Received in Wreck
    Harvey E. Moody Jr., 17, Wilmore high school student, died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at Good Samaritan hospital here of a skull fracture suffered at 9 o'clock yesterday morning when an automobile in which he was riding left the Wilmore-High Bridge road a mile from Wilmore and turned over three times.
    Young Moody, passenger in a coupe driven by Franklin McMillan, 17, of Wilmore, fellow-student at the school, was thrown from the auto when it turned over. Chief of Police Taul Walker of Wilmore said. McMillan suffered cuts on the head and hip, the police chief said. He was treated by a physician at Wilmore. His condition was reported as good last night.
    The youths were en route to High Bridge to get anther student at the high school, Cecil Conner, when the accident occurred, Chief Walker said. All three, member of the junior class, were to have served as ushers at baccalaureate services for the school's graduating class yesterday morning at the Wilmore Methodist Episcopal church.
    Young Moody was brought to the hospital in a private ambulance.
    A native of Wilmore he was a son of Harvey E. Moody Sr., mail carrier, and the late Mrs. Blanche Hagedorn Moody.
    Besides his father, he is survived by four brothers, George H., Hugh M., William C., and L.B. Moody, and two sisters, Thelma Lee and Stella Frances Moody, all of of Wilmore.
    The body was removed to the Guyn and Kurtz funeral home at Nicholasville, from where it will be taken to the Moody residence today. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church at Wilmore, the Rev. W.E. Travis, pastor of the Wilmore Presbyterian church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Virgil Moore, pastor of the Wilmore Methodist church. Burial will be at Wilmore.

    Nicholasville-George Hagedorn Moody, 83, widower of Virginia Moody, formerly of Melrose Avenue, died August 1, 2007 after a lengthy illness. He was the former long time superintendent of Lone Oak Country Club, a graduate of Wilmore High School-Class of '42 and a veteran of WW II. Mr. Moody was a former coach and teacher for the Jessamine Co. school system. He was a native of Jessamine Co., son of the late Harvey Edgar and Blanche Hagedorn Moody. Services will be 1:30pm Monday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Snyder officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Sunday. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

    At age 94, Stella Frances Moody Sweeney passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 in Lake Jackson, Texas.

    She was born February 21, 1925 in Wilmore, Kentucky to Harvey Edgar Moody and Blanche Hagerdon Moody, as the fourth child of seven. After graduating from high school in Wilmore, Kentucky, Stella moved to Huntsville, Alabama, where she lived with her sister and worked at the PX on the nearby army base. There, she met Rushford Lee Sweeney, Jr., who was serving in the U.S. Army after graduating from Texas A&M. They married on February 26, 1944, shortly after Stella’s 19th birthday. In 1947, the young couple, now with first son, Rushford Lee III, moved to Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, where husband R.L. worked as an engineer for ASARCO. In Rosita, their family grew to include two more sons, Clifton and Mark. In 1957, they relocated to Lake Jackson, where R.L. worked as a chemical engineer at Dow, and Stella was a busy wife, mother, and homemaker. After seventy years of marriage, husband R.L. passed away in 2014.

    Stella was also a faithful and longtime member of Chapelwood Methodist Church in Lake Jackson. In her spare time, she enjoyed crabbing, playing cards, visiting with family and friends, and, in particular, golfing with other ladies at Riverside Country Club. She always enjoyed having company at her home and was a very special grandmother who eagerly planned fun activities to amuse her beloved grandchildren, who all affectionately called her “Memer,” a name of which she was quite proud.

    Survivors include her three sons: Rushford Lee Sweeney III (Constance) of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, Clifton Wade Sweeney (Isabel) of Antioch, California, and Mark Elliott Sweeney (Vicki) of Lake Jackson, and eight grandchildren: Wade Sweeney (Michele) of Marble Falls, Katie Sweeney-Cavaness (Jacques) of Lake Jackson, Kelly Anne Sweeney and Rushford Lee Sweeney IV of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, Stephanie Sweeney and Todd Sweeney of Antioch, California, Jarrod E. Sweeney of Fort Worth, and Mara Sweeney Claeys (Adam) of Kuantan, Malaysia. She is also survived by three great-grandsons, Colton, Tysen, and Jacob; sister-in-law, Ella Moody of Corpus Christi; beloved nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

    Stella was preceded in death by her parents and all siblings (Thelma, Harvey, George, Bud, Bill, L.B.); husband R.L. Sweeney; brothers-in-law, Billy Sweeney and Preston Lawrence; and sister-in-law, Thelma Sweeney Lawrence.

    Family members will observe Stella’s passing in a private setting in May.

    The family extends special thanks to the Elmcroft Staff, the A-Med Community Hospice, Rhonda Taylor and Chapelwood Methodist Staff, and granddaughter Katie, who greatly assisted her grandmother in many ways in her final years.

    Lambert B. "L.B." Moody, 62, passed away December 17, 1993 in a local hospital after a long illness. He was born on September 3, 1931 to Harvey E. and Blanche H. Moody, Sr. in Wilmore, KY. He served with the U.S. Air Force for 24 years. He was involved in air defense until his retirement in 1974. L.B. was a very loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh and Harvey E. Moody, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Ella Moody, Corpus Christi, TX; a daughter, Debbie M. Robert had worked for the Fayette County Government. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family, was a Vietnam Army Veteran, enjoyed playing bridge and watching old movies.
