    Biography from Find a Grave:
Isaac was the first husband of Martha (Tipton) Cassity Price Baker (1839-1924). He married Martha on November 8, 1856 in Sullivan County, Missouri and was the father of three children with her: Henrietta, Amanda Jane and Isaac Newton Cassity, Jr. Isaac was the son of Peter Thompson Cassity, II and Lydia West (Evans) Cassity. Isaac died during his service in the Union Army during the Civil War. He enlisted in Co. B, 66th EMM (Enrolled Missouri Militia) on August 5, 1862 at Cross Roads, Missouri. His brother, Peter Thompson Cassity III, enlisted on the same day. Isaac enlisted as a 2nd musician and his brother enlisted as a private. Isaac was 30 years old and had two children at the time. His brother, was listed as being 24 at the time. (I believe his brother was actually 26). Military records say that Isaac died on November 5, 1862, although some family histories list his death as November 6th, 1862. His brother was relieved from service on November 7, 1862, probably due to the death of Isaac. Isaac and Peter's father, Sgt. Peter Thompson Cassity, II, served a few months as Sgt. in Co. C, 62nd EMM from October through December 1864. When Isaac died, his wife, Martha, was pregnant with their third child, Isaac Newton Cassity, Jr. His son was born about seven months after Isaac died. Isaac Newton Cassity, Jr. and his sisters were raised by Martha and her second husband, another Missouri Civil War veteran of the Union Army, Pvt. Harrison Price, also of Sullivan County, Missouri. After Pvt. Price died, Martha married her third husband, John Rowen Baker (1861-1937).

    Pete Cassity Dies.
Pete Cassity, aged 75 years, brother of A.M. Cassity, of this city, died at his home at Cora Saturday, December 2, 1911, of paralysis. A first stroke had seized him about ten days before his death and he had never fully recovered. The second stroke came Saturday morning and he died a short time afterwards. He was a blacksmith and was widely known in this county. The remains were interred in the Shatto cemetery Sunday.
The Milan Standard, Milan, Missouri. Thursday, 7 December 1911.

    Old Resident Dead.
Peter Cassity, of Cora, Dies From Effect of appoplexy.
On last Saturday morning Mr. Peter Cassity, one of the earliest settlers of the county, died at his home in Cora, following a stroke of paralysis about a week previous.
The funeral was held on Sunday and interment was made in the Shatto cemetery.
Mr. Cassity was one of the early settlers of this county, coming here with his parents before the war in the early fifties. He had lived here ever since. He was in his 76th years at the time of his death. He lived for many years on a farm west of Milan near the J.W. Henry bridge. Here his father lived. About twenty years ago he went to Cora where he established a blacksmith shop and followed that business as long as his strength was sufficient.
About a year ago he got hurt while shoeing a horse, having a hip dislocated. From this he never recovered and it doubtless hastened the time of his death.
Mr. Cassity was a good citizen, a good neighbor, and on needy person every asked aid of him in vain.
The Milan Republican, Milan, Missouri. Thursday, 7 December 1911.

    Two Suicides in Linn County
Alonzo Cassity this Moring at Purdin
    Wililams King near Marceline
At 10:30 o’clock this (Thursday) morning, the body of Alonzo M. Cassity was found handing in his barn at his home in Purdin, 5 miles north of here. He was in the restaurant business, and had been in his place only 30 minutes before the sad event.
His health had been somewhat poorly of late, but aside from that it is not known what caused him to take his life. The deed was done with a rope which he tied about his neck and then dropped out of the barn loft. He leaves a wife and two sons, Rolla and Alfred.

    Married
John Q. Boner and Miss Lydia J. Cassity were quietly married in the Standard office at 5:30 o’clock p.m., Monday, Jan’y 8th, Judge S.M. Grigsby officiating.
This marriage is the consumation of a courtship of several years and the contracting parties have each proven for each other that faithfulness that insures a true union of hearts and lives.
The bride is a daughter of Peter Cassity, and is a lady of exceptional industry and frugality. She has lived in our city for years, working for her living, and by her womanly deportment has the respect of all who knew here. “Jack” Boner, the groom is also well known in our city. He is a big hearted, clever, well behaved young man, and will we think prove worthy of his bride.
The married couple left the same evening at 11 o’clock over the O.K. for South Bend, Wash., where “Jack’s” brother lives, and where they will make their future home.
The Republican extends its best wishes to the wedded couple and hopes for them a happy wedded life.

Mrs. John Boner Dies At Her Home In Milan
Mrs. Lydia Jane Boner, wife of John Q. Boner, died at the family home Friday morning, September 4, at 6:30 o’clock after a long illness which had its beginning last January when she suffered an attack of the flue and from that time on Mrs. Boner never regained her usual robust health.
Mrs. Boner was born September 2, 1874, on the farm home of her parents west of Milan, being 57 years of age at the time of her death. The deceased was the daughter of pioneer citizens, Peter and Alnena Hill Cassity, and was the eighty child of a family of nine children. Five brothers passed to the great beyond previous to her passing as well as her parents.
Lydia J. Cassity was united in marriage on January 7, 1900, to John Q. Boner, also a native born resident of Milan. Two daughters came to bless the union, one dying in infancy. Mrs. Boner was a home loving woman, and her only interest in life was her devotion to her loved ones of whom she seemed to never tire in doing for. She was not confined to her bed until a short time before the end came. She was ready to go and remarked to those around her bed in the early hours last Friday that she “would be so glad when it was over.”
She leaves to mourn her a devoted husband, and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Boner Bramble, a sister, Mrs. W.M. Cavenee, of Magna, Utah, two brothers, P.T. Cassity, of Magna, Utah, and W.L. Cassity, of Balko, Okla. The funeral service was held at the family residence Sunday afternoon in the presence of a large gathering of friends and relatives, with Rev. Wilson Bentley officiating, after which interment took place in Oakwood cemetery.

On June 30, 1898 he petitioned Putnam Lodge No.190 A.F. & A.M., of Newtown, Missouri for the degrees of Free-Masonry. He was accepted and on August 13, 1898 initiated into the mysteries of free-Masonry, passed October 29, 1898 and raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason on March 25, 1899, and since that date has continuously remained a member of Putnam Lodge No.190 in good standing.

The clock of life is wound but one
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
    At late or early hours
Now is the only time we own -
Live, love, toil with a will!
Place no faith in tomorrow for
The clock may then be still.

    Notes:

    Young Mother Dies
Mrs. George McGhee, 35 years of age, died at her home a few miles east of Purdin at 11 a.m. Saturday. About three weeks ago a splinter entered on of Mrs. McGhee’s fingers which caused blood poisoning from which she never fully recovered. Later she suffered an attack of typhoid which was the immediate cause of her death. She was a loving disposition, always finding good in everyone and will be greatly missed by her many friends.
Lillie Henderson Garrett, a daughter of John J. and Martha Garrett, was born May 12, 1888, and died August 11, 1923, therefore was 35 years, 2 months and 29 days in this life. She was married to George McGhee in 1908 and to this union three children were born, Vonice age 12 and Genevieve age 8 and Urby age 4 years. Besides her immediate family she leaves one brother, J.W. Garrett of Browning, and three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Tattershall of Purdin; Mrs. Ben Peery of Linneus and Mrs. Dan Nickell of Brookfield and numerous other relatives and friends. Knowing her intimately as we did, cheerful, responsive and ever willing to help others, it is almost impossible to realize that she is gone. There is comfort in the thought that life never ends, and that somewhere is the face not seen, the voice not heard, the heart so brave, so steadfast, so true that somewhere free from earthly pains and care, joyous, alive and happy she awaits us. May the grief of her departing be assuaged by the remembrance of her thoughtful presence and many deeds of loving kindness that made her life a daily pleasure to all who passed her way.
Funeral services were conducted from the Purdin Christian church of which she was a member, Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. by Rev. Acre after which interment occurred in the Purdin cemetery.
“With careful hands she strewed life’s destined fields,
With kindly thoughts and goodly deeds,
With love each stony place was made to yield
    Sweet ministry to other’s needs.
And now, the world is poorer far we say
But heaven is richer since she went away.”

Although of tender years he seemed fully conscious of the approaching, and when it was suggested that he would not die said, “Yes I will, I can see the angels now.” He leaves his parents, seven brothers and sisters with near and dear ones to mourn his loss.
He has gone to rest, and dying as he did throws about his loved ones a cord of influence which will ever draw them strongly heavenward. May the loving heavenly Father comfort their hearts and lead them safely home. His funeral was preached at the home of the Rev. W.J. Parvin and his body laid to rest in Purdin cemetery.
