    Rev. Hobart Claud Eaton, 95, of Corbin, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 at Oak Tree Hospital. He was a member of Steele's Chapel Christian Church, where he was ordained as a minister in 1945.Born Sept. 8, 1911 in Corbin to the late Sam and Vergie Parker Eaton, he spent his life advocating Christianity and education. For 53 years, he devoted himself to the ministry, showing his love for moral values in both country and family and Christian ethics. Indeed, he performed the wedding ceremonies for three of his four children and lastly for his granddaughter when he was 91 years old. As well, for 36 years, he was a teacher who touched the lives of the students he dearly loved, helping them not only in academics but also in athletics. He relished seeing students excel from the lowest achievement level to the highest and enjoyed coaching sports programs, especially basketball and girls' volleyball, winning several championships. A man of varied musical interests, he played the fiddle, taught square dancing, participated in a Bluegrass band, and sang in a quartet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Pearl Sharp Eaton; two infant children: Harold Wayne and Brenda Frances Eaton; two brothers: Roy H. Eaton and Sam Eaton, Jr.; and a sister, Edyth Prewitt. Survivors include two sons: Ralph (Lois) Eaton, of Bethel, Ohio, and Johnny (Tami) Eaton, of Corbin; two daughters: Ruth Bigelow, of Crosby, Texas, and Ella Vincent, of Wayne County; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Herbert and Charles Eaton; and a sister, Goldie Bingham; as well as other family members and many close friends, especially at Corbin Nursing Home, all who mourn his passing. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2007 in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Eaton and Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Worley Cemetery with relatives and friends serving as pallbearers. The family of Rev. Hobart Eaton will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin, is in charge of all arrangements.
