    Henry R. Curtis Dies; Rites Friday
    Henry Raymond Curtis, 65, Durham Manufacturing Corp. employe whose home was as 1803 S. High St., died at Ball Hospital Wednesday after a three-week illness.
    Mr. Curtis, a Morehead, Ky., native, moved here in 1940.
    Surviving are his wife, Minnie; five sons, Ralph H., James T., The Rev. Samuel C. and Dennie Curtis all of Muncie and Floyd J. Curtis of Marion, O.; a daughter, Edna Avery of Charleston, S.C.; three brothers, Claude, Hobert and Zack Curtis, all of Sharkey, Ky.; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Caudill of Louisville, Ky., and 22 grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Parson Mortuary with the Rev. Thomas Hisle and the Rev. Delma Johnson officiating.
    Friends may call at the mortuary after 7 p.m. Thursday.
    The body then will be taken to Stuckey and Cagney Funeral Home in Morehead, Ky. Final services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Pisgh Christian Church with burial in Eldridge Cemetery near Morehead.

    Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Era Curtis; two brothers, Floyd Curtis, Marion, Ohio, and Dennie Curtis, Hartford City; two sisters, Rhella Blevins, Caldonia, Ohio, and Ginger Avery (husband; Vernon), Ridgecrest, Calif; two sisters-in-law, Louise Curtis and Ruth Curtis, both of Muncie, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
    His parents, Raymond and Minnie Curtis; a son, Walfred Phillips Curtis; three brothers, Mitchell Curtis, Rev. Samuel C. Curtis and James T. Curtis, and a sister, Carla Jenkins, are deceased.
    Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Parson Mortuary. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
    Called will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

    Former Muncie resident James Taylor Curtis, 75, Land O’ Lakes, Fla., died Saturday after a short illness.
    Mr. Curtis, who was born in Morehead, Ky., lived in Muncie from 1946 until moving to Florida. He was an Army veteran, and a member of American Legion Post 19, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 651 and Avondale Sympathy Club.
    Survivors include four sons, James Curtis Jr. (wife: Edwina) and Ronald D. Curtis (wife: Tamara), both of Land O’ Lakes, Raymond Jesse Curtis, Deland, Fla., and Zack T. Curtis, Muncie; a daughter, Barbara Ann Smith, Muncie; three brothers, Floyd Curtis, Ohio, Ralph Curtis, Muncie, and Denny Curtis, Dunkirk; a sister, Ginger Avery, California; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
    A daughter, Diana Sue Curtis, a brother, Samuel Curtis, and his parents are deceased.
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel, with Rev. J. Edward Pease officiating. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery, Gaston, with military graveside rites.
    Calling will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

    Marion – Floyd J. Curtis, 82, died at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center.
    Born May 28, 1921, he was the son of the late Henry R. and Minnie Alice Curtis.
    Twice married, he was married to Deliah Hall Curtis and Goldie Mae Blevins Curtis; both preceded him in death.
    He worked at Marion Metal Products and retired after 30 years of service with Sims Brothers.
    He is survived by six step-sons; six step-daughters including Linda Blevins of Marion; a brother, Denny Curtis of Dunkirk; a sister, Edna Avery of Ridge Crest, Calif.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, three stepsons, two stepdaughters, three brothers and a half-sister.
    Memorial services will be held 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Boyd Funeral Home with the Rev. William Houck officiating. Burial is at a later date. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Floyd J. Curtis Family in care of Boyd Funeral Home.

    Rev. Curtis was born in Russell, Ky. He moved to Muncie in 1945 after serving in the Navy during World War II. He was a disabled American veteran.
    He worked for the city of Muncie and had been street commissioner. He retired in 1980. He was active in the Democratic Party and attended various Church of God churches. He and also pastured in this area.
    Survivors include his wife, Louis Carmichael Curtis, Muncie; four sons, Samuel M. Curtis (wife: Linda), William C. Curtis (wife: Nancy), and Stephen R. Curtis (wife, Debbie), all of Muncie, and Nick Curtis (wife: Barbara), Leesville, La., two daughters, Wanda L. Anderson (husband: John), and Glenda C. Benhow (husband: Dave), both of Muncie; four brothers, Ralph Curtis and James Curtis, both of Muncie, Floyd Curtis, Marion, Ohio, and Denny Curtis, Hartford City; two sisters, Rhella Blevins, Marion, Ohio, and Ginger Avery, Ridgecrest, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; a great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry R. and Minnie Hyatt Curtis.

    A former resident of Muncie, Indiana, he attended the Rock United Pentecostal Church of Berne, IN and was baptized in the name of Jesus in August of 2006.
    Surviving are his daughters, Penny Barnes, of Bluffton, IN, Connie Stevens (husband, Kenneth), of Muncie; his former wife, Betty Burtis, of Muncie; his companion, Susan Byrge, of Bluffton; his son-in-law, Donnie Jeffris, of Redkey; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his sons, Dennie E. Curtis and Ronnie Curtis; and his daughter, Vicky Jeffris.
    Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Parson Mortuary with Pastor David Schwartz officiating.
    Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends an hour prior to the services at the mortuary on Wednesday.
