    FLEMINGSBURG — Wilma Jean Doyle Hester, 88, of Wallingford, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at her home. She was the widow of Clayton Emerson Hester.

    Born in Fleming County on Oct. 18, 1931, she was the daughter of the late James Howard Doyle and the late Mary Isabelle Parker Doyle.

    For many years Jean owned and operated Jean’s Cakes and Catering, along with B & H Family General Store. She made many of the area’s wedding cakes and worked at several bakeries. A Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Wallingford Homemakers and an officer for the Fox Valley PTA, Jean was named Beta Sigma Phi’s Lady of the Year in 2004. In 1973 she became an honorary member of the local FFA Chapter. She was a missionary to Haiti with five missionary trips. She was a founding member of the New Life Church of Christ.

    Jean is survived by her children, Mary (husband Steve) Butcher, Roger (wife Bonnie) Hester, Dale (wife Kim) Hester, Daryl (wife Sherry) Hester and an honorary son, Jack (wife Shirley) Smalley. She was “Mamaw” to 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and a sister to Shirley (husband Taylor) Williams and a sister to Larry (wife Brenda) Doyle.

    In addition to her father and mother and her husband Clayton, Jean was preceded in death by two infant sons, Gary Ray Hester and Robert Morris Hester; her siblings, Joan Toller, L. D. Doyle, James Howard Doyle, and Letha Doyle; and her half brother, Dudley Doyle.

    Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020, at New Life Church of Christ with Bro. Darren Fizer, Bro. Arnold Howell, and Bro, Dan Bentley officiating.

    Jean will be laid to rest in Martin Cemetery.

    Her pallbearers include Brian Hester, Justin Hester, Jared Hester, Cody Hester, Stephen Smalley, David Smalley, Ben Gulley, and Phillip Hester. Her honorary pallbearers include Karlee Jean Butcher, Ricky Stevens, Sarah Hester, Ashta Stevens, Samantha Lynch, and Jennifer Gulley.

    Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday, at the church located at 374 Helena Road, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.

    In compliance with state mandate, masks are required for those in attendance of all services.

    Lloyd Douglas (L.D.) Doyle, 79, of Seaman, Ohio went home to Glory on April 20, 2019. He was born May 15, 1939 in Fleming County, Ky. to James Howard and Mary Isabelle (Power) Doyle. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ellen Doyle; infant sister, Letha; sister, Joan Toller; brother, James, Jr., and brothers-in-law Charles Toller and Clayton Hester.

    L.D. married the love of his life, Darlene (Raines)) Doyle on Feb. 6, 1988 and God blessed them with 31 wonderful years together. Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife, Darlene; his stepson, Mike (Karen) Hughes; stepdaughter, Cindi (Tim) Cannon; stepdaughter, Missy (Patrick) Danbury; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Taylor) Williams and Jean Hester; brother, Larry (Brenda) Doyle, sister-in-law Wanda Doyle, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    A devoted husband, a doting and generous grandfather, a great Dad and a great friend, L.D. set a fine example with his work ethic, his humor, and his integrity. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.

    The family would like to thank Dr. Bryan Grooms, Toni Martin, CNP, the staff at the Adams County Regional Medical Center, OSU James Cancer Center, Dr. Megan Merrill, Dr. Aschi, Dr. Poynter, Dr. Nayak, Dr. Quraishi, Dr. Abbot-Smith, Dr. Albright, Adams County Homecare, and Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley for their kindness and care of our beloved L.D. throughout this past year. A special thank you, also, to everyone who prayed, visited, called, sent cards, brought food. Your thoughtfulness has been great appreciated.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley, 215 Hughes Boulevard, Mt. Orab, Ohio 45154, and/or ACRMC Auxilary, 230 Medical Center Drive, Seaman, Ohio 45679.

    James “June” H. Doyle, Jr., 75 of Flemingsburg, passed away peacefully Monday, January 7, 2019, at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville surrounded by his beloved family.

    He was born February 8, 1943, in Fleming County to the late James Howard and Mary Isabelle Parker Doyle.

    James was a retired foreman of Brownings/Emerson in Maysville where he was employed for 35 years. After he retired in 2004, he took over the park manager position at Fox Valley Recreation Park, which he was still doing until recent months.

    James loved the campground and was dedicated to its upkeep. Visitors could always count on finding him sitting on the front porch in his rocking chair waving to them upon their arrival. James never met a stranger and he was always ready to share his campfire with any camper or visitor. When James wasn’t managing the campground, he enjoyed camping with his sons or vacationing with his family in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, his favorite home away from home.

    James rode motorcycles until just a few years ago and was instrumental in organizing many successful charity rides for families in their time of need. One of his greatest passions, after his love for family, was cooking. He loved cooking over the open fire and enjoyed preparing foods for his family and friends.

    James was a member of Flemingsburg Christian Church.

    Survivors include his devoted wife of 58 years, Wanda Toller Doyle; a daughter, Mary Jayne (David) Watson; identical twin sons, Ronald Wayne (Melody) Doyle, and Donald Layne (Jill) Doyle; six grandchildren, J.P. Doyle, Ethan Doyle, Nathan (Jenna) Doyle, Allie Doyle, Kinsey Watson, and Hazy Varney; two great-grandchildren, Garrett and Alayna Varney; brothers, Lloyd (Darlene) Doyle and Larry (Brenda) Doyle; sisters, Jean Hester and Shirley (Taylor) Williams; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and lifelong friends.

    In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by: his oldest granddaughter, Candi Watson Varney; great-grandson, Waylon Jacob Varney; an infant sister, Letha Doyle; sister, Joan Doyle Toller; and two brothers-in-law, Clayton Hester and Charles Toller.

    Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Flemingsburg Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Tracy Parker and Rev. Milt Stanfield.

    Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday at Flemingsburg Christian Church.

    James’ final resting place will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

    Active pallbearers will be J.P. Doyle, Ethan Doyle, Nathan Doyle, Garrett Varney, Danny Collins, Jimmy Hamilton, Bob Chamblin, and Chip Spann. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Royse, Carl Lewis, Sam Lewis, Jim Davis, Wayne Hurst, and Hazy Varney.

    Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Dr., Maysville, KY 41056 or to Flemingsburg Christian Church Memorial Fund, 201 E. Water St., Flemingsburg, KY 41041.
