    Mrs. Bertha Rosetta Hedges was born in Pocahontas county, Iowa, on August 25, 1895, and died March 15, 1937, age 41 years, 6 months and 21 days. She is survived by the husband, George Hedges, a daughter, Sophia, her father, Gottfried Julias, two sisters, Mrs. Ida Burka and Mrs. Olga Schleibert, and two brothers, Alfred and Otto Julias. Her mother, one sister and a son have preceded her in death. Funeral services were held March 16 at 2 P.M., in the Chadwick Union church, with Rev. Day officiating, with burial in the Chadwick cemetery under the direction of the Chaffin Funeral Home of Ozark.

    Sophia M. Larrance, 87, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 1:45 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2006, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village.

    She was born Dec. 15, 1918, the daughter of George and Bertha (Julius) Hedges in Lynn Gove, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Earl "Pat" Larrance on Nov. 11, 1944, in Danville. He preceded Sophia in death in February 1994.

    Survivors include: her three nieces, Gwen (Jerry) Price of Gravious Mills, Mo., Gayle (Gene) Spesard of Indianola, and Nita (Deane) Winkler of Indianola; and her nephew, Dale (Mona) McCallister of Chandler, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

    Sophia was a member of the Ridge Farm United Methodist Church where she was the organist and pianist for many years. She belonged to the Ridge Farm Women's Club and Home Bureau. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.

    A celebration of Sophia's life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2006, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home. Pastor Jennie Chin will officiate. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday before the service. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola. Memorial donations can be made in Sophia's name to the Ridge Farm United Methodist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
