  1. 1.  Eva Catherine Hedges was born on 18 Jan 1892 in Frederick County, Maryland; died on 16 Mar 1986 in Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland; was buried in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland.

    Notes:

    Eva C. Hedges formerly of 1021 N Market St., Frederick, and more recently a guest at Meridian Nursing Home, Frederick, died Friday, May 16 at nursing home. She was the wife of David I. Hoke.

    Born Jan.18, 1892, near Walkersville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice Erb Hedges. Mrs. Hoke was a member of Glade United Church of Walkersville. She was a charter member of the Glade Valley Grange.

    Besides her she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Teresa Hoke, Walkersville; two granddaughters, Emily Roberts, Greenville, S.C., and Margaret Know, Lido Beach, N. Y.; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Hedges, Lagrangeville, N.Y.; one sister Margaret Hahn of Frederick.

    Friends may call at the Stauffer Funeral 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. May 19. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, from the funeral home chapel. Her pastors, the Rev. Dr. Paul F. Mehl and the Rev. Barbara D. Mehl, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

    Those desiring may send memorial contributions in Mrs. Hoke's name to Glade United Church of Christ, Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, or to the charity of one's choice.

    Mr. Charles David Hoke, 87, of Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick, formerly of Walkersville, died Sunday, April 6, at his home.

    He was the husband of Teresa Jamison Hoke.

    Born Jan. 23, 1916, in Walkersville, he was the son of the late David Ira and Eva Catherine Hedges Hoke.

    Mr. Hoke was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1981. Early in his life, he farmed in the Walkersville area with his father.

    He was a member of Glade United Church of Christ, Walkersville, and a charter member of Glade Valley Grange. He was a member of Walkersville Volunteer Fire Co., serving as its treasurer for 45 years before retiring in 2000.

    Mr. Hoke was active in the Glade Valley Food Bank, a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society, and more recently enjoyed volunteering his services at Homewood at Crumland Farms.

    Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Emily Roberts of Frederick, and Margaret Krow and husband James of Walkersville and Jensen Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Sarah Krow of Arlington, Va., Ann Roberts of New York, and Mary Montgomery and husband Kurt of Torrence, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Graham Montgomery.

    The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville.

    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Glade United Church of Christ, Walkersville, with the Rev. Dr. Gerald C. Hanberry officiating.

    Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
