    Mrs. Sarah Arthur
    Death Sunday evening at 10:40 o’clock claimed Mrs. Sarah Arthur who passed away at the home of her nephew, Oscar Hunt, of Fullerton, Ky. Mrs. Arthur took ill with grip early in February and steadily grew worse until the end came Sunday. Her husband, James Arthur, died about eighteen years ago.
    Mrs. Arthur was born on Shultz Creek, Greenup county, Ky., Feb. 21, 1847. Except a few years on the West Side she spent her entire life in Greenup county. She leaves one son, John Arthur, of Buena Vista, and three brothers, Taylor Hunt and Scott Hunt, of Walsh, Ky., and William Hunt, of Fullerton.
    The funeral will be held probably Tuesday morning at eleven o’clock from Bennett Chapel on Shultz Creek, with interment in Bennett cemetery.

    Notes:

    William Hunt, age 85, long a prominent and influential citizen of Fullerton, passed away at his home in that village at six o'clock Friday evening. He had been seriously ill for several weeks and his death did not come unexpectedly to loved ones and friends.

    In addition to his faithful wife, Mr. Hunt leaves two sons, Leslie of Fullerton, and who is employed in this city, and Dr. A. P. Hunt, well known Fullerton surgeon and physician.

    While Mr. Hunt had retired as a cattle dealer, he evidenced much interest in the welfare of Fullerton and was always ready and willing to do anything that would benefit the town or its people. He owned considerable land in and around Fullerton and his death is a distinct loss to the community. Mr. Hunt was a man of progressive ideas, was an affectionate husband and an indulgent father and will be missed.

    The funeral services will be held in the M.E. Church in Fullerton at 1 p.m. Sunday. Burial will take place in the Frost, Ky., cemetery.

    Godfrey Harrison Hunt "Harry" Hunt, 76, of South Shore died at 6:10 p.m. Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Miller of South Shore.

    Mr. Hunt had suffered from a long illness. He was a retired farmer.

    Mr. Hunt was born in Walsh, Ky, Feb. 19, 1877, a son of Taylor and Louise Nippert Hunt.

    During 1899, he married Nellie Agnes Harr, who died in 1947. Their seven children live in South Shore. They are Richard, Clarence, Raymond, Morris and Kenneth Hunt, Mrs. Lucille Miller and Mrs. Mabel Sammons.

    A brother, T.A. Hunt, makes his home in South Charleston, W.Va.

    Preceding Mr. Hunt in death were his wife, parents, and two infant daughters. Seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Bennett's Chapel Church at Walsh with Rev. William Mosley and Rev. Richard Cleary officiating.

    Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Home.

    Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Arthur Miller in South Shore after 3 p.m. today.

    Mrs. Buena Hunt, 72, Passes Away At Walsh
    Death a short time following the funeral services Thursday for a son claimed Mrs. Buena Vesta Hunt, 72, widow of Scott Hunt.
    Mrs. Hunt died at 4;50 p.m. Thursday at her home at Walsh. Her son, William Hunt, 31, died Tuesday in Portsmouth General hospital and was buried Thursday afternoon in Bennett's chapel cemetery.
    Mrs. Hunt's death was attributed to shock over the sudden death of her son who died of a shotgun wound. She had not been in the best of health, however. Her condition did not permit her to attend the rites.
    A native of Mason county, W.Va., Mrs. Hunt was born Oct. 29, 1866. Her husband and three children preceded her in death.
    Surviving are two sons and a daughter; Walter Hunt at home, Clyde Hunt of Fullerton and Mrs. Katherine Adkins of Portsmouth route 1. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Smith of Portsmouth, a brother, John Major of Flat Hollow, Ky., a niece, Mrs. Ida Myers of Pomeroy and nine grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bennett's chapel and burial will be in the chapel cemetery, under the direction of J.R. Morton & Son. The body is at the residence.

    Mr. Clarence E. "Dude" Hunt, 88, of South Shore, Ky., died Wednesday, Feb 7, 1996, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.

    He was born Feb. 5, 1908, in Walsh, Ky., a son of the late Larry Hunt and Nellie Harr Hunt. He was retired from the Norfolk and Southern Railroad after 37 years of service as a carman. Also, he was a retired farmer and member of Transportation-Communication International Union.

    He is survived by his wife, Gladys Slater Hunt of South Shore, whom he married Dec.12, 1931. Also surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Rase of South Shore, and a grand-daughter, Miss Susan Rase of South Shore; a niece to whom he helped to rear, Mrs. Julinia Roirds of South Shore; three brothers, Mr. Morris "Bud" Hunt, Mr. Raymond Hunt and Mr. Carl Hunt, all of South Shore; and one sister, Mrs. Mabel Bosley of South Shore.

    Preceded in death by one brother, Richard Hunt, and three sisters, Lucille Miller, Sarah and Rebecca Hunt; and his son-in-law, Mr. Donald Rase.

    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery, with the Rev. Steven Bowling and the Rev. Harley Johnson officiating at the service.

    Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the services Saturday.

    She was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Greenup County, Ky., a daughter of the late Harry Hunt and Nellie Harr Hunt.

    She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Sammons; second husband, Myron Bosley; sister, Lucille Miller; brothers, Richard, Clarence, Raymond and Carl Hunt; and one granddaughter, Stephanie Sammons Smith.

    She was a retired retail sales clerk and homemaker.

    She is survived by a daughter, Janice (Darrell) Taylor of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; three sons, Darrell (Diana) Sammons of South Shore, Ky., Gary (Sheila) Sammons of Pataskala, Ohio, and Bob Sammons of Concord, N.C.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Morris "Bud" Hunt of South Shore, Ky.

    Services will be Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with Bill Hayden officiating, and burial in Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, Ky. Friends may call Sunday, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Webb Hunt, two sisters, Mable Bosley and Lucille Miller, four brothers, Richard, Clarence, Raymond and Carl Hunt.

    He is survived by two daughters, Francie (Bob) Meenach of Russell, and Janie (David) Budig of South Shore, two grandchildren, J.T. (Renee) White, and Matthew Meenach, two great-grandchildren, Jonah Clay and Lilah Renee White, and a sister-in-law, Ota Hunt of South Shore.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Friday, January 21, 2011, at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore by Bill Hayden.

    Family and friends may call after noon today at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 2 p.m.

    A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brick Union Cemetery, with military honors by James L. Flannery American Legion Post 276.

    Kenneth "Carl" Hunt, 86, of South Shore, Ky., awoke with our Lord on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at South Shore, Ky.

    Mr. Hunt was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Greenup County at Walsh, Ky., the youngest son of the late Godfrey "Harry" Hunt and Nellie Harr Hunt. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Clarence and Raymond Hunt; and one sister, Lucille Hunt Miller.

    He raised his family as a proud farmer for many years, and received an honorary commissioner of agriculture from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He retired from Greenup County Schools as a school bus driver. He was a member of South Shore Old Regular Baptist Church. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in the European Theater, where he fought in five major battles, including Normandy Beachhead and Battle of the Bulge. He was in the 83rd Infantry division and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

    Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Ota Bentley Hunt; four children, Harry (Gloria) Hunt of Raceland, Ky., Laura (David) Kiser of Hamlin, W.Va., Lois (Phillip) Coyle of Richmond, Ky., and Paul (Connie) Hunt of South Shore, Ky.; one sister, Mabel Bosley, 95, of South Shore, Ky.; one brother, Morris Hunt, 90, of South Shore; eight grandchildren, Melanie (Jason) Tolliver, Craig (Paula) Hunt, Geffrey (Bevin) Kiser, Karan (Benjie) Smith, Traci (Scott) McIntosh, Brian (Shanna) Reeder, Matthew (Tessa) Hunt and Michael (Brandi) Hunt; 10 great-grandchildren, Justin and Josie Tolliver, Hayden Hunt, Keely and Anna Kiser, David and Kailyn Smith, Morgan and Tanner McIntosh, and Brady Reeder; and several nieces and nephews.

    Services will be noon Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating and burial in Siloam Cemetery in South Shore. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice, Pollard Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101, or South Shore Nursing and Rehab, James Hannah Drive, South Shore, KY 41175.
