    Mrs. Helen Cassity
    Mrs. Helen Cassity, 74-year-old Brookfield resident, died Thursday evening at her home. She was the mother of Mrs. Betty Prewitt, Chillicothe.
    Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield, with the Rev. Kenneth Kelley officiating. Burial will be in the Park Lawn Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Saturday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
    Mrs. Cassity was born Dec. 16, 1912, a daughter of Charlie and Cora Jones Peavler. She married Noland Cassity Oct. 26, 1929. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
    Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Dorothy) Hackney, Raytown, and Mrs. Vernon (Betty) Prewitt, Chillicothe; two sisters, Mrs. Glenn (Bernice) Bailey, Brookfield, and Mrs. Eugene (Edna Mae) Walker, Green City; a brother, Raymond Peavler, Green Castle; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Carolyn Cassity and Mrs. Dorothy Cassity, Kansas City; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Richard and sister, Mable Buswell.

    Richard L. Cassity, 53, died at 12:42 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hannibal. He was a resident of Hannibal and brother of Betty Prewitt, Chillicothe.
    Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, of the home; his mother, Helen Cassity, Brookfield; two sons, Shawn, of the home, and Roger, Kansas City; two daughters, Linda Foster, Olathe, Kan., and Barbara Morris, Brookfield; three step-sons, Darrel Clark, Ocean Side, Calif.; Blake Clark, Overland Park, Kan., and Curtis Clark, Kansas City; four step-daughters, Glenda Hoy and Rhoda Storey, both of Kansas City; Velda St. Croix and Vonda Breham, both of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy hackney, Raytown, and Betty Prewitt, Chillicothe; two grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.
    Mr. Cassity was born August 25, 1930, in New Boston, son of Nolan and Helen Peavler Cassity. He was first married to Carolyn Prewitt December 25, 1949, and later married Dorothy Clark, Jan. 17, 1967. Mr. Cassity was a claims representative for Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Hannibal, and Brookfield Lodge 86, AF&AM.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Hannibal with the Rev. Randy Mahurin officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Park Lawn Memorial Gardens in Brookfield. The Rev. Kenneth Kelley will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to his children’s education fund.

    Dorothy Mae (Cassity Hackney died peacefully at home on October 2, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Hackney, her parents Nolan and Helen Cassity and her brother Richard Cassity. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Cynthia L. Hackney, Her son and daughter-in-law Joseph E. and Ella Hackney, her granddaughter and grandson-in-law Elizabeth and Jeremy Broomhall, her granddaughter Emma Hackney, her sister Betty Prewitt and several nieces and nephews.
    Dorothy was born near New Boston, MO, on Jan. 16, 1932. She grew up in Brookfield, MO, and graduated from Brookfield High School in 1949. On Jan. 20, 1952, Dorothy Cassity married Joseph Hackney in Brookfield, MO. They moved to Los Angeles, CA, and lived there for several years. In 1959, Joe and Dorothy moved their family back to Missouri and lived in Raytown for over 50 years. Dorothy and Joe enjoyed traveling throughout the United states, Canada, Europe and New Zealand.
    The visitation and funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Raytown Christian Church. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. The family requests donations to Harvesters or your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.

    Betty was born the daughter of Nolan T. and Helen (Peavler) Cassity on October 25, 1936, in Brookfield, Missouri. She was a 1954 graduate of Brookfield High School. She was united in marriage to Vernon E. Prewitt on November 21, 1954, in Brookfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2000. Betty worked as a supervisor for Hope Haven Industries in Chillicothe, Missouri, for 25 years. After her retirement, she worked at Skillpath in Chillicothe, Missouri, for 9 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, where she volunteered. She was also a member of the Bizzy Belles Extension Club. Betty was a Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 6 years. She enjoyed genealogy, reading, and spending time with her family.

    Survivors include two sons, James V. Prewitt and wife Patti of Navasota, Texas, and John E. Prewitt of Chillicothe, Illinois; two daughters, Sondra Skipper and husband Larry of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Suzanne Greenwood of Chillicothe, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Adam Rice, Nathaniel Skipper, Tyler Skipper and wife Jessica, Taylor, Jackson, and Carson Prewitt, Emily Prewitt and husband Doug Johnson, Ethan Prewitt, and Molly Prewitt; one great grandchild, Anaya Rice; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; one brother, Richard Cassity; and one sister; Dorothy Hackney.

    Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 29, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 29, 2019, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Forest O.
