    Edna Pearl Cochran Hedges, 90, Lebanon, died Wednesday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Myers Mortuary, with calling from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. She had been a cook for several restaurants. Previously, she had worked for Lebanon Canning Factory and had worked for Stewart-Warner Corp., Lebanon, during World War II. She was a member of Church of Christ at Gadsen. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. She was the widow of Francis Cleveland Hedges. Survivors: sons, James, Donald, Ernest, Thomas and John Hedges; daughters, Thelma Yaryan and Pearl Rogers; sisters, Goldie Lasley, Mary Newman and Stella Sturdevant; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.

    Tom was proud of his service in the navy then the air force. He loved learning new things. He was an avid reader. He loved the Indianapolis 500. Sports and history were among his interests.

    F. Thomas Hedges, 74, Sarasota, died April 19, 2003. He was born Nov. 22, 1928, in Whitestown, Ind, and came to Sarasota 22 years ago from Fort Wayne, Ind.

    He retired in 1989 as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service, and was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was a veteran of the Army and the Navy, and was a member of the Civil War Round Table. He was a Baptist and a lay minister.

    Survivors include his wife of 24 years, a daughter, stepsons, sisters, brothers, six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

    Memorial services will be in Lebanon. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Gulf Gate Chapel, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 1750 17th St, Suite A, Sarasota, FL. Published in Herald Tribune on Apr. 22, 2003.

    James Edward Hedges, 81, Lebanon, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at his home.

    He was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Whitestown, to Francis C. (Cleve) Hedges and Edna Cochran.

    He married Susie Ellen Lewis in Whitestown in December 1953, and she survives.

    Mr. Hedges served in the Korean Conflict in the Army and in Germany from 1952-1956. He worked for Belmar Machine Shop in Whitestown and then for Noble Ratts Auctioneering. He worked for Lebanon I.G.A. for 20 years and then at Lewin Family Farms. He loved fishing and camping and took great pride in his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved maintaining his home and yard and tinkering with projects and repairs.

    Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Woodall of Lebanon; a son, Ted (Jean Mason) Hedges of Lebanon; grandchildren, Zach Woodall, Jake Woodall, Aaron Hedges, Joshua Hedges and Sawyer Hedges, all of Lebanon, Nichola Mason of Noblesville and Spencer Mason of Brownsburg; and great-grandchildren Kaylee and Corbin Leander.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tom and Don Hedges, a sister Pearl Rogers, and a great-grandson Preston Mason.

    Graveside military rites will we held at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.

    Mr. Donald L. "Whitey" Hedges, 75, Lebanon, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon.

    Mr. Hedges was born June 20, 1935, in Gadsden, son of the now deceased Francis Cleveland and Edna Pearl (Cochran) Hedges. He married Patty Joan Hoffman on June 3, 1955, in Lebanon. Mrs. Hedges survives.

    He was reared and educated in Whitestown, where he was a member of the 1953 Whitestown High School graduating class. In 1955 he moved to Lebanon.

    For several years, Mr. Hedges was a typesetter for The Lebanon Reporter and later for The Indianapolis Star. He retired in 1982. After his retirement, he owned and operated Hedges Cleaning & Floor Service until 1997. He also worked for Indianapolis Car Exchange for about five years.

    Whitey never met a stranger. He enjoyed his friends, family and taking day trips with his wife. An avid sports fan, he followed the Chicago Cubs, IU Basketball and NASCAR racing — especially Jeff Gordon. Additional interests included doing crossword puzzles and genealogy.

    He was a member of New Hope Christian Church, Whitestown; Graphic Communications Workers Local #17, Indianapolis; AFL-CIO; and was a former member of the Indiana National Guard.

    Survivors include his wife, Patricia Hedges of Lebanon; four children, Kathy O. Hedges, Karen K. (Mike) Netherton, Gary F. Hedges and Kimberly A. (Rick) Craig, all of Lebanon; nine grandchildren, Samantha L. Hedges of Chicago, Ill., and Chad A. Hedges, Jillian L. Hedges, Erika P. Hedges, Abigail D. Hedges-Netherton, Jessica A. Summers, Scott A. Hulse, Ryon Donald Craig and Nathon L. Craig, all of Lebanon; three brothers, James (Susie) Hedges, Ernest (Margaret) Hedges and John David (Norma) Hedges, all of Lebanon; and sister, Thelma (Max) Yaryan, of Lebanon

    He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Hedges, and a sister, Pearl Rogers.

    Visitation is planned for 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services with military rites will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. David Bourne officiating.

    Cremation will follow services.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.

    Obituary for Ernest Hedges

    Heaven gained one of the gentlest souls on Thursday, March 3, 2016. Ernie Hedges passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 27, 1940 in Whitestown, a son of the late Francis Cleveland and Edna Pearl (Cochran) Hedges.

    Ernie was a lifelong resident of Boone County and was raised in Whitestown, Indiana, graduating from high school there, with the class of 1958.

    Following three years in the Army, Ernie returned to Boone County and married Margaret Mae Poole on March 30, 1963. They made their home in Lebanon and raised their two children, Melanie (Hedges) McNeeley and Paul James Hedges and enjoying their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ernie found great pride and joy in his great grandchildren, Maddie, Easton, and Dally. He loved them dearly.

    Ernie was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God Church, attending in Lebanon for 27 years and at Eagle Creek Assembly in Indianapolis for 25 years. Through the years he touched many hearts and lives by living a Godly life before the Lord. 1 Corinthians 4:2, “Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.” He always tried to live his life according to this scripture.

    Through the years Ernie and the family enjoyed many years of camping and vacationing at their time share in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and a great friend to many. Ernie loved golfing, IU Basketball, Cubs baseball, Indiana Pacers, and the Indianapolis Colts. After that, any sport on T.V. would do! Ernie loved life, living every day to the fullest with his wife, best friend, and soul mate, Margaret. A kind, loving and Godly man, Ernie will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends who knew him.

    Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana, with Rev. Gregory Gentry, officiating.
    Visitation is planned for Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home in Lebanon.
    Interment will follow services at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown, Indiana.
