    Mrs. Lydia Gilkison Dies In Her Sleep
    Mrs. Lydia Adron Gilkison, 75, died unexpectedly in her sleep early yesterday morning at her home, 1416 Main. She had been in her usual health Friday, sewing on a quilt and doing her housework as usual.
    she was born in Fleming county, Ky., April 17, 1882, a daughter of James W. and Mary M. Lewman, and was married there Dec. 16, 1897, to Samuel S. Gilkison. They came to Atchison county in 1901, locating on a farm near Cummings, where they resided until his death Dec. 6, 1942. She had lived in Atchison since that time.
    Surviving are six children, William I. Gilkison, Alvin S. Gilkison and Mrs. Albert &Myrtle) Meyer, all of Atchison; James A. (Dick) Gilkison, Horton; Clarence E. Gilkison, Kansas City, Kas., and Edwin E. Gilkison, Hoyt; 21 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Judith Walker, Atchison, and Mrs. Della Ingels, Garden Grove, Calif.; four brothers, Leonard and Walter Lewman, Cummings; Curtis Lewman, Muscotah, and Marvin Lewman, Hollywood, Calif.
    Mrs. Gilkison was a member of the Atchison Methodist church and of the Mary-Martha Sunday school class. Her hobbies were flowers and quilt making. She enjoyed doing things for her friends.
    Funeral services will be held at the Stanton chapel at 2 p.m. tomorrow, the Rev. H.J. Sterling officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
    Six nephews will be pallbearers. The body is at the Stanton mortuary.

Mr. Gilkison died Sunday evening at the Atchison hospital.

    Horton, Kan. – Arthur J. “Dick” Gilkison, 78, died Monday in Phoenix, Ariz.
    Mr. Gilkison was born in Atchison, Kan., and was married to Louise Ebbrecht on Jan. 20, 1933.
    He farmed in Atchison County all his life.
    Surviving are his wife, Louise Gilkison of the home; two sons, Richard Gilkison, Effingham, Kan., and Thomas Gilkison, Wichita, Kan.; seven daughters, Wanda Nelson, Glendale, Ariz., Marietta Kout, Atchison, Chrystell Barnett, Holton, Kan., Sarah Clark, Glendale, Faith Smith, San Mateo, Calif., Barbara Chase, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jacqueline McConnell, Atchison; and one brother, Edwin Gilkison, Topeka, Kan.
    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Maple-Chaney Chapel, Horton. Burial will be at the Muscotah, Kan., Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the chapel.

    Kansas Man Dies After Bringing Son Here for MSC Study
    Alvin Gilkison, 57, Atchison, Kas., collapsed and died Sunday on the campus of Northwest State College here.
    Mr. Gilkison and his wife were on the campus with their son, Donald Gilkison, who was enrolling as a freshman at the college. He suffered a apparent heart attack as they walked between buildings on the campus.
    He was an employee of the Kansas Highway Department, and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
    In addition to the son and his wife, Mrs. Bernice Gilkison, he is survived by one other son, also four brothers and a grandchild.

Mr. Gilkison worked for the Pacific Fruit Express Co. before he retired in 1974. He leaves a son, Clarence E. Gilkison Jr., Kansas City, Kansas; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Ohl Holt in Clay County, Mrs. Elaine Simpson, Gladstone, and Mrs. Janet Hahner, Kansas City, Kansas; two brothers, Dick Gilkison, Horton, and Edwin Gilkison, Topeka; and four grandchildren.     Rushville, Mo. – Betty Jane Page, 55, died Wednesday night at her home near Rushville of an apparent heart attack.
    A lifelong resident of Northwest Missouri, Mrs. Page was a former employee of Ramsay’s Department Store at Atchison, Kan., Bell Telephone Co., and most recently the Rushville State Bank, where she retired in 1978 after 19 years of service. Her memberships included the Sugar Creek Christian Church, North Platte Extension Club, and the Levonia Chapter No.85 OES at De Kalb, Mo., where she was past matron. She was also an officer in the St. Joseph Diabetes Association.
    She is survived by her husband, Jesse Lee page of the home; one son, J.W. Page, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; her mother, Lydia M. Gilkison, Atchison; one sister, Lydia Willis, Bean Lake, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Sawin-Dyer chapel in Atchison. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery at Rushville.
    Visitation will be this evening from 7 until 8:30 at the chapel.

    Margie was born on Aug. 7, 1924 in Cummings, KS. the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Gilkison) Meyer. She graduated from Effingham High School in 1942. Margie was married to Robert Wheeler in 1943 and they were later divorced. She was married to Lester M. Lohman on Dec. 4, 1960 in Atchison, KS. Mr. Lohman preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 2013. She was a farm wife for many years. Mrs. Lohman was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Potter, KS. where she served on the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and raising flowers. She especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

    Survivors include four daughters, Lisa (Randy) Gibson, Easton, KS., Lauri (Chuck) Swinford, Easton, KS., Sharon Sawyer, Richardson, TX., and Vicki (Tom) Jacobitz, Stella, NE., a sister, Ruth Wright, Atchison, KS., twelve grandchildren and presently eleven great grandchildren, and the twelfth great grandchild on the way.

    Ruthann Wright, 91, of Falls City, NE formerly of Atchison KS died Monday, May 11, 2020 at the home of her niece Vicki (Tom) Jacobitz, in Stella NE.

    Ruthann has been cremated, no visitation will be held. Memorial services will be at a later date with burial of the cremated remains in the Pardee Cemetery, Atchison KS. The Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

    Ruthann Meyer was born on Sept. 24, 1928 in Cummings, KS the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Gilkison) Meyer. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1946 and attended Highland Community College for one year. Ruthie worked as a secretary for the former Paige Airways, Atchison for over 20 years. She was a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church, former member of the Sweet Adeline’s and the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary. She was known as the Holiday Candy Maker Lady, helping people make all kinds of treats for the holidays. After an accident 6 years ago, Ruthann was not able to be at her home and do the activities she enjoyed. She still enjoyed being around people, just ask the caregivers.

    Ruthann was married to Ralph Gene Wright on Nov. 21, 1990 at the Atchison United Methodist Church. Ralph preceded her in death on June 19, 2010. Survivors include four nieces. Her parents, husband Ralph, and a sister and brother-in-law Margie & Lester Lohman preceded her in death.
