    Gustiva Hyatt Masters, 92, of Fleming County, concluded a life of family and community Tuesday, December 6, 2011 after brief illness at the Fleming County Hospital

    Mrs. Masters was born in Rowan County April 18, 1919, the daughter of William "Minn" and Lucy McKee Hyatt,

    An educator, she began teaching in a one room school in Rowan County. After moving to Fleming County, she taught 4th grade at Flemingsburg Elementary for 28 years, from 1960 eventually retiring in 1988. An active member of the community she was in Fleming County Homemakers and served many years as a 4-H leader. She attended Flemingsburg Baptist Church.

    Gussie is survived by two sons, Dan (Bettye) Masters and Charlie (Rose Ann) Masters, also of Fleming County: Two grandsons, John (Francie) Masters of Lexington and Marc (Danielle) Masters of Flemingsburg. Three great - grandchildren, Jud Masters, Evelyn Masters, and Madison Dodgen, along with several nieces and nephews.

    Preceding Mrs. Masters in death was her husband of 63 years, John Master, an infant son, a sister, Thelma Graham, and two brothers William Hyatt Jr. and Bob Hyatt

    Funeral services will be at 2 PM Sunday December 11, 2011 at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Cornette officiating. Burial will follow in Elizaville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 7 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be John Masters, Marc Master, Chuck Brown, Don Sundys, Craig Anderson, and Johnny Rice. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Masters, Perky Masters, and Earl Kinder.

    William "Bill" Hyatt Jr., 87, of Ewing, passed away peacefully Sept. 29, 2010, at his home on the Hilltop Elizaville Road in Fleming County. Family and friends were at his side.

    Mr. Hyatt was born in Rowan County, May 6, 1923, to the late William "Minn" Hyatt and Lucy McKee Hyatt.

    He was the devoted husband and father and recently, the widower of Violet Decker Hyatt, after a 65-plus year marriage.

    Mr. Hyatt was a farmer all of his life, having a great love of the land and animals. He was a breeder of Limousin cattle for many years.

    Mr. Hyatt moved to Fleming County in 1947, after serving in World War II. He was a member of the VFW, active member of the Fleming County Rescue Squad and a Kentucky Colonel.

    Mr. Hyatt is survived by two daughters, Brenda Faye (Donnie Ray) Ishmael of Hillsboro, and Sharon Kay Keller of Anchorage, Ak. He is also survived by a sister, Gustiva H. Masters of May's Lick; a sister-in-law, Helen Hyatt of Cynthiana; and nephews and nieces, Daniel (Bettye) Masters and Charles (Roseanne) Masters of Fleming County, Phillip Graham, Jane Graham Dwyer and Linda Graham of Massachusetts, Robert Hyatt, Keith Hyatt and Mike Hyatt of Kentucky.

    Preceding him in death was a sister, Thelma R. Graham; and a brother, Robert J. Hyatt.

    Services will be Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at 2 p.m., at the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville.

    Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.

    Visitation is 6-8 p.m., today, Oct. 1, 2010, at the funeral home.

Born in Rowan County, April 12, 1929, to the late Menn and Lucy McKee Hyatt, he was a retired business owner. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Jona Helvey and two sisters, Elsie Hyatt and Thelma Hyatt Graham.

    He is survived by his wife, Helen R. Morris Hyatt; three sons, Robert Nelson "Bobby" (Sandra) Hyatt, Jr., Morehead, Mike Hyatt, Langley, Virginia and Keith (Shirley) Hyatt, Columbus, Ohio; two stepsons, Terry Whalen and Greg (Linda) Whalen, both of Cynthiana; a brother, Bill (Violet) Hyatt, Elizaville; a sister, Gusie (John) Masters, Mayslick; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and a step great-grandchild.

    Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Friday at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Howard Livingood. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday at Elizaville Cemetery in Fleming County. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elmarch United Methodist Church.
