Alamo – Mrs. Ethel M. Rude, 86, died Wednesday in Good Samaritan Nursing Home in McAllen.
Mrs. Rude came to Alamo in 1932 from Topeka, Kan., and was a member of Alamo Community Church and the Sorossis Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rude, in 1961.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. N.L. (Murial) Reyna of Brownsville, a son-in-law, Ellis Beavers of Pharr, three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are pending and will be announced by Skinner Funeral Home.

Myra S. Rupert, 70, died Monday afternoon at McAllen Municipal Hospital.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles Rude of Alamo, Mrs. Alfred Martinson of Topeka, Kans.; a brother, Harold S. Gill of Topeka; and two nieces, Mrs. Ellis Beavers of Pharr and Mrs. N.L. Reyna of Brownsville; and a nephew, Kenneth Norton Jr. of Topeka.
She had been a resident of Alamo for the past 13 years and was a member of the Evangelical Church of Topeka and the Beulah Chapter of the Eastern Star of Topeka.
The body will lie in state at Skinner Funeral Home until 4 p.m. this afternoon. There will be no services in the Valley. The body will be sent to Topeka for funeral services and interment. Skinner Funeral Home of Pharr is in charge of local arrangements.

Kenneth E. Norton, Jr., 76, Topeka, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015.
He was born September 5, 1938, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Kenneth and Laura (Gill) Norton. Kenneth graduated from Topeka High School in 1956. He was a freight carman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years, retiring on September 1, 2000.
Kenneth was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Local Union #6887 Railroad workers for 38 years, serving as a Union Officer, Railway Carmen and TCU.
On October 13, 1956 he married Barbara G. Myers in Topeka. She preceded him in death on April 3, 1998.
Kenneth married Mary L. Holm on August 14, 1999 in Topeka, she survives. Other survivors include his children, Linda Jo Norton, Topeka; Sheila R. (Mark) Pipkin, San Antonio, TX; David J. (Regina) Norton, Topeka; Donna L. (John) Steele, Lee’s Summit, MO and Allyson Booth, Topeka; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 16 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore, Topeka. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
