    He retired two years ago after serving in Toledo, Columbus, Lima and Effingham, Ill., areas as pipeline superintendent for the Shell Oil Co. He was born Dec. 28, 1903 in Norcatur, Kan.
    Survivors include his wife, Mabel; a son, Jack, Dayton; a daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Miriam) Synder, Stony Ridge; three sisters, Mrs. T.V. Stewart, Pueblo, Colo.; Mrs. Kenneth Cook, Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. William Reiner, Portland, Ore., and five grandchildren.
    Friends may call after 4 p.m. today in the Holcomb Funeral Home, Luckey, where the funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. with burial in Troy Township Cemetery.

    Cook, Alice Hedges, born November 24, 1905 in Norcatur, Kansas, died November 19, 1996 at the age of 90. Survivors include her daughters, Elsie (Mike) Simpson of Phoenix, Barbara (Raing) Syyan (formerly Barbara Maddox) of Tucson; grandchildren Becky and Jill Simpson of Phoenix, Debra (Rich) McAllister, Laura and Cindy Maddox all of Tucson; three great-grandchildren, Greggory and Tyler of Phoenix and Dylan James of Tucson, plus many loving friends. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband Ken Cook in 1971. A graduate of Fort Hays University, Mrs. Cook did her graduate work at the University of Arizona. She came to Tucson in 1929 to teach in the Tucson Public Schools, later teaching in the Amphitheatre District. Alice was a charter member of the Tucson Saguaro Chapter of the American Business Womens Assoc., as well as a member of the Saguaro Christian Church.     Beverly Mattix, 37, of El Dorado, Kan., died Sunday at 6:30 a.m. in Allen Memorial hospital in El Dorado. He was an employe of the White Eagle division of Socony Vacuum in Augusta for the past 11 years.
    He was born at Benedict, Kan., June 16, 1913, and moved to El Dorado with his parents in 1915. He is survived by his wife, Charlene, and two sons, Gary, 12, and Richard, 7; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.S. Mattix and four brothers, Clinton, Marion, Richard and David, all of El Dorado, and two sisters, Mary Katherine Mattix, Wichita, and Jennie Faye Mattix, Latham, Kan.
    Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Evangelical United Brethren church at El Dorado. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery at El Dorado, with the Byrd funeral home of El Dorado in charge.

He made an impact on all he came across that was immeasurable for words. He went to St. John's Military Academy, performed with the military Crack Squad, and served on the Army National Guard Honor Guard, and attended Olivet Baptist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Sandy; will be remembered by his daughter, Shonn Tew; son-in- law, Dave Tew; grandchildren Haley and Jack; and brother Gary Mattix. Jeff retired as a ramp service employee at TWA for 35 years. On Jan. 10, 1966, at Miami, OK, he married Anita Ruth (Schick) Mattix, who survives him.
    He is also survived by: daughter, Shannon and husband Kirk of Wichita; son, Aaron of Wichita; mother Wanda Stephens of Augusta; brother, Jon and wife Barbara of Garfield, Ark.; grandchildren, Levi and Kyle and Madeline; aunt, Doris Stearman; Odie the farm dog; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by father, Clinton Ray Mattix; stepfathers, Robert Dean Dennett and Robert Stephens; grandparents, Guy and Maxie (Sly) Stearman, Simon Cyrilis and Effie Mattix.
