Notes - Simon Helms was born October 28th, 1844 in the State of Ohio. Departed this life after a lingering illness and much suffering with heart trouble July 28th 1900, age 55 years and ten months.
Deceased came to this county when only an infant and has ever since resided in or near Sullivan county. At the time of his death he resided at Purdin, Mo. He was first married to Miss Mary Cassity, who died some years ago, having two sons and one daughter who still survive. Mr. Helms was married the second time to Miss Ida Belt, who with one child survives to mourn her sad loss.
The funeral service was conducted at Shatto cemetery by Rev. B.H. Wilson, Sunday, July 29th. Mr. Helms was highly respected and a large number of friends were present at the funeral service.
