Eldiva Joyce "Granny" Kerns, 74, of Bowling Green, died Aug. 14, 2011, at The Medical Center.
The Morehead native was born April 6, 1937. She was a retired seamstress for Hawkins Upholstery. She was a member of Slaty Point Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to garden and was known as "Granny" to everyone who knew here. She was a daughter of the late Hobart Purvis and Minnie Moody Purvis. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Willard, Marvin and Milburn Purvis; and three sisters, Mary Olive Perry, Lovell Swim and Frances Stevenson.
Funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include a son, Gary Lynn Hunt of Bowling Green; three daughters, Katie Tucker, Debra Sue Hunt and Diana Kay Lamastus, all of Bowling Green; a brother Clifford Ray Purvis of Las Vegas; five grandchildren, Stephanie Carroll and her husband Lee, Justin Towe and his wife, Valeris, Gary "Lee" Hunt, Kendra Lamastus and Madison Hunt; and two great-grandsons, Grayson Lee Carroll and Wyatt Daniel Towe.
