- Charles George
Charles E. George, 88, assistant postmaster and acting postmaster here before his retirement, died early Thursday morning at the Jones Nursing Home in Marion where he had been a patient since last October. He had been ill since August.
Mr. George had made his home with a grandson, John E. Main, 1620 s. Edgewood dr., until he entered the nursing home.
He was a member of the Unitarian Church at Mt. Carmel, Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, and the National Association of Retired Civil Employees.
He was born in Franklin County, June 5, 1878, to Mr. and Mrs. Michael George, and came here to 1917 from Franklin. His wife, Edna M. George, died in 1953.
Surviving are three grandsons, John Main of Anderson, with whom he resided, Donald G. Main of Marion, and Richard Main of Indianapolis; eight great-grandchildren, and two nephews.
Friends may call at the Baker Brothers Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. John Siner of the First Methodist Church. Interment will be made in the East Maplewood Cemetery.
