Notes - Biography on Find a Grave:
Fred is a U.S. Army Veteran who served during WW I from 16 Nov 1917 to 11 Aug 1919. Fred's rank is unknown at this time. We know he died in Riverside, CA, but have been unable to find where he was buried. He has four siblings as recorded below under Family Link. Two of them Louis & Herman are twins. One other sibling was less then 24 hrs. old when he died. Fred's brothers, Ernest & Louis are also U.S. Army Veterans who served during WW I. Ernest was a Pvt. & Louis was a Pfc.
Fred's brother, Herman married Mary Anna Peter. We called her Aunt May Lay. Mary Anna is a Grand Aunt to me Kathy. Herman is how we are connected to the Lay Family. I am working on Herman's 4 generations. Once I find Fred & Herman's maternal grandmother I'll have 3 generations completed. Their 4th generation will involve German records, of which I have no access to. If I did I'd probably not be able to read them since I don't know how to speak or read German.
