- Basil Edward McCorkle, 42,residing at 1417 S. 19th St., died Sunday afternoon in the Irene Byron santarium, near Ft. Wayne, where he had been a patient at various periods since 1944. Mr. McCorkle is a former employee of the Chrysler and the World Bestos plants here and his last employment was foreman for the Farmers Feed Company in Cambridge City.
He was a member of the Friends church in Spiceland. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis and the Moose lodge of New Castle.
Surviving are the widow, Ursula of New Castle; four sons, Rex, James, Paul and Arthur of Mooseheart, ILL.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCorkle; four sisters, Mrs. Edward Boles of NC., Mrs. Francis Segar of R.R. Sulphur Springs, Mrs. Ronald Godlove of Springfield, Mass,, Mrs. Howard Hammond of Sulphur Springs; five brothers, William of Vandalia, O., Harold and Lowell of New Castle, Max and Dale of Spiceland. Two daughters preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Stanley mortuary after 7 o'clock this evening. Services will be held at the Stanley Chapel Wed. afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Herman Ast and Rev. John McCorkle of Alexandria officiating. Masonic rites will be held at the grave in South Mound.
