Notes - LKH note: MHR gives the name of Riley Gilkison's wife as Harriet Smoot. However, the census records that I find for him and the children listed in those record match the information she gives with the exception of the name of the wife who is listed as Evaline in 1900 and as Matilda E. in 1910. In both the 1900 and 1920 census also in the household is Riley's mother-in-law, Martha L. Penlam (widow, b. Apr 1830, Kentucky).
[4] - GREENVIEW - Mrs. Riley Gilkison, 93, died at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Paul G. Cantrall in Peoria.
Surviving are nine children, Mrs. Hubert Montgomery, of Greenview; Mrs. Walter Snyder; Mrs. Robert Fitzgerald, Mrs. Paul Cantrall, Mrs. John Kerr, and Mrs. John Antle, all of Peoria; Alvin Gilkison, of Greenview; Irving, of Long Beach, Calif.; and Ike, of DeKalb; 25 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were at the Sweetwater Church of Christ with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
