- Vera Jeannette Watson of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Page Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Fort Myers. She was 77. Vera was born March 29, 1939 in Waycross, Georgia, the beautiful daughter of the late John E. and Vera Shirah. She was a long-standing resident of Labelle, Florida and a graduate of Labelle High School. She worked as a self-employed bookkeeper and has lived in Fort Myers, Florida the past 25 years. She was a beloved wife, a devoted mother, loving grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Grant Watson and a daughter, Tonnie E. Watson. Vera leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Helen E. Best of Fort Myers, Florida; Gerald “Jerry” Grant Watson, Jr. of Labelle, Florida and Laura O. Smith of Labelle, Florida. She is survived by her brother, John E. Shirah, Jr and ten grandchildren; Tonia, Michael, Grant, Robert, Johnny, Jason, Ryan, Joshua, Keith and Aaron. She is also the loving great grandmother of Johnathan, Holden, Jordan, Khira, Claire, Jami, Elora, Kyla, Jennefer, Aria, Elijah, Justin, Christopher, Carson, Katelynn, Jaylee, Gracie, Tommy and Kaylin. Immediate funeral services are private at the convenience of her family.
