    Jacob Levi Kirkhart
    Jacob Levi Kirhart, son of Mary Jane Stewart and Jacob Luther Kirkhart, was born March 31, 1860, in Madison County, Iowa, and passed away at Lucien, Okla., at 11:40 a.m., November 25, at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 25 day. He had one brother, John, who died at the age of 35 and a baby sister, Emma, who died in infancy. At the age of three years he moved to Jefferson County, Iowa, where he lived 12 years before moving to Rome, Iowa, where he spent 35 years. While in Iowa, he farmed and also worked for the C.B.&Q. Railroad. In 1902 he moved to Oklahoma where he resided on a farm Northeast of Lucien, Okla.
    On September 12, 1893, he was married to Marguerite Shields. To this union were born four sons; Kent and John in Iowa and Robert and Dale in Lucien. In 1910 he moved to the town of Lucien living on the South side of the street. He served as postmaster under President Taft, the post office being at that time in the Larkin Rice Drug store. Late his wife served as Postmistress and he served as Mail Messenger for 30 years. He also had a blacksmith shop for 15 years, did carpenter and general repair work.
    Known to young and old as Uncle Jake, he was always interested in and active in all church and community affairs. He was a member of the Lucien Methodist church. His wife preceded him in death last March at the age of 83.
    Survivors include his four sons: Kent, John and Dale, of Lucien, and Robert, of Enid; four grandchildren, Mrs. Bill Robinson, Margy and Roberta Kirkhart, all of Enid, Carolyn Kirkhart, of Lucien, and two great-grandchildren, Linda Louise and Billy Robinson, of Enid.
