    TRENTON -- Delmar Ivan Dewey died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Hillcrest Nursing Home at the age of 79.

    He was born June 22, 1928, in Hitchcock County, Neb., the son of the late Ivan and Nila (Owens) Dewey. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Trenton and graduated from Trenton High School in 1945.

    On May 26, 1950, Delmar married Denelda McCoolam at Trenton and she preceded him in death on June 25, 2003.

    On June 27, 1986, he married Nadine (Clabaugh) Frakes at Trenton, and they spent the remainder of his life in Trenton.

    He began his working life in construction on the Trenton Dam and later worked in the oil fields. In 1958 Delmar began working in heavy equipment and road maintenance for Hitchcock County, retiring in 1993. During his life, Delmar enjoyed farming and animals, especially draft horses. He could often be found tinkering on projects in his shop, traveling to visit friends and relatives, or pheasant hunting in the fall. He kept busy with his backhoe and dump truck doing odd jobs for others.

    He was preceded in death by one son, Darrel Dean Dewey and one sister, Delores Davis.

    Delmar is survived by his wife, Nadine Dewey of Trenton; three daughters, Diane Solko and husband, Don of Herndon, Kan., Dena Dewey of Trenton, and Darla Lovelady and husband, Mike of Ness City, Kan.; one step-daughter, Janet Hegwood and husband, Jerry of Aurora, Colo.; two sons, Don Dewey and wife, Jackie of Hillrose, Calif., and Shad Dewey and wife, Jane of McCook; 18 grandchildren, Destiny, Rachelle, Raye Ann, Mark, Renae, Janelle, Josh, Jerod, Jami, Derek, Andrew, Nicole, Delaney, Kourtney, Caleb, Braden, Kent and Eric; five great-grandchildren, Donnovan, Ceanne, Dalton, Jayden and Garrett; two sisters, Barbara Dye and husband, Walter of Mitchell, Neb., and Marilyn Hovey and husband, Tom of Trenton; relatives and friends.

    Delmar will be missed by all who knew him.

    Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Trenton, with the Rev. Richard Melano officiating. Interment will be in the Trenton Cemetery at Trenton.

    Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in Trenton from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday from 1-6 p.m.

    Dena Lori Dewey, age 58, of Trenton passed away at the CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney on Saturday, October 26, 2019.  She was born in McCook Nebraska on November 7, 1960 to Delmar and Denelda (McCollam) Dewey.  She grew up in Trenton graduating from Trenton High School in 1979.  She went to Colby Community College and studied nursing.

    Dena returned to Trenton where she was an EMT for the Trenton Rescue Squad for over 20 years.  Dena always had a huge heart helping people in need.  She worked as a para-educator in the McCook Elementary, managed the grocery store in Stratton, was a CNA/CMA at the El Dorado Manor and most recently babysat for friends.  Dena loved to make people laugh with a joke.  She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, hat collecting and collected owls and cows.    She was a great cook, known for her gravy, cinnamon rolls and cavitini.  She and her daughter Delaney traveled a summer from South Carolina to Utah visiting family and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ivan and Nila Dewey; maternal grandparents, Donald and Vada McCollam; her parents, Delmar Dewey and Denelda Dewey Hamill; and an infant brother, Darrell Dewey.

    Dena is survived by her daughter, Delaney Dewey at home; three sisters, Sonjia and husband, Gurinder Singh, of Casselberry, FL, Diana and husband, Don Solko, of Herndon, KS and Darla Lovelady of Herndon, KS; two brothers, Donald "Skeet" and wife, Jackie Dewey, of Hillrose, CO and Derrick "Shad" and wife, Jane Dewey, of McCook; nieces and nephews, Josh Dewey, Destiny Schroeder, Rachelle Solko, RayeAnn Solko, Mark Solko, Derek Rupp, Jerod Dewey, Frank Rupp, Renae Berry, Janelle Solko, Jami Nicolaus, Kourtney Lovelady, Caleb Anderson, Braden Anderson, Nicole Dewey, and 14 great nieces and nephews.

    In keeping with Dena's wishes she chose cremation.  A Memorial Service will be held at the Trenton Church of God on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 10:30 AM with Johnny Walker officiating.  Inurnment will be in the Trenton Cemetery.

    TRENTON -- Donald I. McCollam, age 74, died Friday night at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman.

    Mr. McCollam was born January 11, 1907 in Gosper County to the late William and Liza McCollam. He grew up near Arapahoe and was married August 14, 1930 to Vada Petsch at Wauneta. They moved to Trenton in 1945, and she preceded him in death October 17, 1961.

    He was married September 3, 1966 at Scottsbluff to Clara Evans. They returned to Trenton where he was employed at the Hitchcock County Courthouse for 17 years, retiring in 1980. Mr. McCollam was a member of the McCook Elks Lodge and McCook Eagles Club.

    Survivors include his wife, Clara of Trenton; five daughters, Mrs. Fritz (Denelda) Hamill of Holcomb, Kansas; Mrs. Bill (Joyce) Shank of Denver, Colorado; Katherine Brannan of Thornton, Colorado; Mrs. Raymond (Carolyn) Lopez of Fort Sumner, New Mexico; and Sonjia McCollam of Artesia, New Mexico; two step-children, David Evans of McCook and Mrs. Bill (Myrna) Clifford of Hayes Center; 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Owen of McCook; Orville of Fort Lupton, Colorado; Wayne of Knoxville, Iowa; and Clifford of Oakland, California; and four sisters, Mabel Randolph of Stratton; Beth Moon of Des Moines, Iowa; Faye Sukan of Tigard, Washington; and Velma Prideaux of Woodriver, Oregon.

    Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the United Methodist Church of Trenton with the Rev. Richard Atherton and the Rev. W.W. DeBolt officiating. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery of Stratton under the direction of the Herrmann Funeral Home of Trenton.

    William McCollam was born January 17th, 1871, at Mediapolis, Iowa. He came to Nebraska with his parents in 1897, and was married to Eliza Hill of Arapahoe, Nebraska, on April 4, 1906. He passed away at the home in Gosper county, Nebraska, January 11, 1933, being nearly 62 years of age.
    To this union were born ten children, five boys and five girls, as follows: Donald of Wauneta, Neb., Mrs. Mabel Randolph of Arapahoe, Clifford, Orville, Fern, Fay, Owen, Wayne, Elizabeth and Velma, at home. Besides his wife and children, he leaves one brother, John of Gosper county; fours sisters, Mrs. Sarah Watson of Littleton, Colorado, Mrs. Maggie weaver, Goshen, Indiana, Mrs. Cassie Hawkins, Trenton, Nebraska; and Mrs. Elvira Price of Paoli, Kansas; and one grandchild, Donald McCollam.
    His father, mother and one brother, Hugh, have preceded him to the Great Beyond.

    Eliza Jane (Hill) McCollam was born February 7, 1879 in Bates county, Mo., and departed this life November 9, 1946 at the Mehaffie Nursing home in Arapahoe.
    Mrs. McCollum had been suffering for some time with a heart affliction which became more serious, confining her to bed at the nursing home. She passed away in her sleep Saturday morning.
    Mrs. McCollam was an early settler, coming to Nebraska with her parents at the age of three years. She grew to young womanhood in this locality and was married to William McCollum on April 3, 1906. To this union were born ten children, Donald McCollam of Trenton, Clifford of Arapahoe, Mrs. Mable Randolph of Benkelman, Orville of Alliance, Mrs. Fern Petsch (deceased), Mrs. Faye DuMond of Vancouver, Wash, Owen of Benkelman, Wayne of Knoxville, Ia., Mrs. Elizabeth Moon, of Sidney, and Mrs. Velma Prideaux of Independence, Ore.
    The other relatives besides Mrs. McCollam’s living children left to mourn her passing away are 16 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Jesse Petsch, Stratton, Nebr., and a brother, Owen Hill, McCook, Nebr.
    Those preceding her in death are her husband and daughter, a sister, Mrs. Hattie Boyd, two brothers, Charles B. Hill and Homer H. Hill.
    Mrs. McCollam joined the Methodist church at an early age and has devoted her life in that faith. She was devoted and faithful to her family, and shall be greatly missed by all who knew her.
    The funeral service was held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon under the direction of W.V. Andrews. Rev. T.W. Shepard officiated as minister. Burial was in the Arapahoe cemetery.
