3354 | Veteran of World War Laid to Rest Morning Sun, Ia., Aug. 24. – (Special.) – The funeral services of Vernon Earl Jarvis took place Sunday afternoon at 2:30, at the home of his father, Sam Jarvis, southwest of town. The service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Nicholis of the First Presbyterian church. Vernon Earl Jarvis was born May 28, 1894, at Morning Sun, and died last Friday, Aug. 20. He was in the army during the World war. His health broke during this time and he never regained it. He was a member of the Reorganized Church, Latter Day Saints at Decatur, Neb. 3355 | Victor Charles Gilroy, 74, of Perry died of cancer Monday at Rowley Memorial Masonic Home. Mr. Gilroy was born in Des Moines and also had lived in Eagle Grove, Georgia and Jefferson. He retired as a road maintenance worker for the Department of Transportation and was a member of Perry American Legion post and a Navy veteran of World War II. 3357 | Virgil D. Hasenyager Virgil D. Hasenyager, 62, of 4930 Marsh, died yesterday at the Veterans hospital. He was born in Norcatur, Kas., and lived here 23 years. Mr. Hasenyager was an electrician for the Missouri Plating company before he retired. He was a Lutheran. Mr. Hasenyager was a Mason. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Military Order of the Cooties. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alice Hasenyager of the home; a son, Sgt. Clifford E. Hasenyager, with the Army in Germany; a daughter, Mrs. Veda M. Orth, St. Francis, Kas.; two brothers, Norman Hasenyager, Vietnam, and Fred W. 3360 | Virginia ""Ginny"" Ann Grothe-Maxwell, 76, died peacefully at home on Friday, October 20, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at 7 p.m. at the Brooks Funeral Care, University Chapel in Clive, Iowa. Ginny was born July 22, 1930 in Clinton, IA to Alma Marie Bergthold Beine and Joseph Beine. She was raised in Burlington where she attended St. John's Catholic School and graduated from Burlington High School in 1948. Ginny married William ""Bill"" J. Grothe, Jr. on September 30, 1950, who died June 23, 1992. She then married Calvin ""Charlie"" Maxwell on January 9, 2002. Ginny worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, and then retired from US West in 1989. She enjoyed all mental games, playing poker, spending time on her acreage in southern Iowa and with family and friends. Ginny loved all animals, especially her dogs Charlee and Dolly, and supported the Humane Society of America. She also enjoyed gardening, yard work, camping, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was a life long fan of country western music and has always been an avid Cubbie fan. Ginny is survived by her husband, Calvin C. Maxwell of Johnston; her children, Nan (Jim) Newell of Prairie City, Steve (Tracy) Grothe of Osceola, Don Grothe of Plano, TX, Kathy (Randy) Kladivo of Tower, MN, Angie Johnson of Des Moines and Linda (Jon) Darter of Minneapolis, MN; seven grandchildren; sisters, Claire George of Littleton, CO and Doris Levins of Burlington; brother-in-law Bob (Mary) Grothe of Danville; her step-children, Pamela (Kim) Richardson, Cynthia (Vic) Suppan, Charles (Deb) Maxwell, Edward Maxwell, Christina (Brian) Reid and Kenneth Maxwell; as well as many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. She was born Oct. 10, 1898, in Los Angeles and was a Los Angeles County resident for 27 years. Virginia was a retired teach for the Los Angeles Unified School District, after 25 years. She is survived by daughters, Alice MacAller of Thousand Oaks and Mary Hall of Westlake Village; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. 3362 | Virginia Maxine Weaver age 92 of Miami, Florida passed away Sunday morning, December 20, 2015 at her home. She was born November 8, 1923 in Clymer, Pennsylvania daughter of the late David Earl and Margaret (Bartlebaugh) Clemenson. On October 20, 1951 she married Earl K. "Doc" Weaver in Grosse Point, Michigan. He preceded her in death January 22, 1994. She resided in Harper Woods for many years. She and Doc loved wintering in Florida for many years and Virginia eventually made Florida her fulltime residence. Virginia retired from the Ford Motor Company following 30 years of dedicated employment as a switchboard operator. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and loved traveling throughout the world. Virginia and Doc were avid boaters and were members of the Clinton River Boat Club and the Detroit Power Squadron. She is survived by several nieces and nephews including: Leslie (Bruce) Dewey of Havana, Florida and Adrienne (Dominick) Calautti of Miami, Florida; great nieces and nephews: Erin Dewey, Michelle Calautti, Erik Calautti, Jenna Schroeder and Dylan Arnold; great great niece: Cora Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: LaVerne Dix and niece: Renee Arnold. A graveside service and burial will take place at 9:00 A.M Monday at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. 3363 | Vivian Weaver White Sulphur Springs Vivian Weaver, 82, died Sunday at a Great Falls hospital of a brain hemorrhage. A vigil service will be at 7 tonight at the Twichel Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church, with burial in Mayn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Meagher County Senior Center. Weaver was born Dec. 16, 1912, in Portland, Ore. She attended schools in Westport, Ore., and a business college in Portland. She worked as a legal secretary before marrying Lawrence Beaulieu in Vancouver, Wash. They operated a business in Clatskanie, Ore., and later divorced. In 1948 she married Gilbert Weaver in Vancouver and they moved to Martinsdale in 1959. They settled in White Sulphur Springs in 1960. He died in 1973. Weaver was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church and the Castle Mountain Garden Club, past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and a charter member of the White Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens Association, delivering Meals on Wheels from the center for 16 years. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Surviving are four daughters, Katie Burnett of Great Falls, Mary Anne Gauer of Lewistown, Jacqueline Baron of Lake Forest, Calif., and Linda Sutton of Kodiak, Alaska; a brother Robert Eyman of Pacific City, Ore.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 3364 | W.J. Crawford was born in Pittsburg, Penn., November 14, 1850, and passed away September 22, 1931 at his home near Bostwick, Nebr., at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 8 days. When just a small boy he with his parents moved to Des Moines county (sic), Iowa, where he lived until 1885. On February 22, 1876, he was united in marriage to Hannah McKeown. Five children came into this home, four of whom are now living. The eldest, a son, died in infancy. In 1885 Mr. and Mrs. Crawford and family came to Nebraska and located on the farm where he resided until the time of his death. Mrs. Crawford preceded him in death, on June 11, 1918. At the age of 22 he became affiliated with the Reformed Presbyterian church (sic) of Sharon, Iowa. Thirteen years later, when they moved to this community, he and Mrs. Crawford placed their names on the Beulah roll of membership. This was over 45 years ago. Mr. Crawford was a pioneer both in this community and in the life of the Beulah congregation. He was steadfast in his faith and for a number of years performed the duties of ruling elder in the Beulah congregation, the highest office the church can offer a layman. For many years Mr. Crawford was the Session's efficient clerk. He leaves to mourn his loss, two sons and two daughters, Walter, Claude and Celia Crawford, and Mrs. Zella Moranville; four grandchildren: Esther, Charles, Water and Ruth Moranville, all of this place; two brothers and three sisters: Robert and Edd Crawford, Mrs. Cora White, Mrs. Eva Guy and Mrs. Ila Hill, all of southern California; besides other relatives and many close friends. Funeral services were held in the Beulah church (sic) at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor Rev. A.J. McFarnland, assisted by a mixed quartet and interment was made in the Beulah cemetery (sic). He passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at the Vista Grande Nursing Home in Cortez. He was 93. On July 20, 1935, in Denver, Colo., Waldo married his sweetheart, Mary Burt. They moved to Southwest Colorado in the 1970s and resided in Dove Creek. Waldo was a resident of the Dove Creek area for 25 years where he worked as an auto mechanic. An outdoorsman, Waldo loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by his sons, Delbert (Annetta) Black of Boulder, Colo., and Ralph Black of Lafayette, Colo.; and his brother, Glenn Black of Hubart, Ore. 3369 | Walkinshaw - Laura Maude Walkinshaw of 30 West 19th Avenue, died in Salem, September 19, 1966. She was born January 9, 1980 in Clay Center, Kansas. She taught school in Kansas, and was united in married to Samuel A. Walkinshaw on April 19, 1905. The family moved to Oregon in 1911, and lived at Yoncalls, Oregon until 1920 when they moved to Eugene, where she had resided most of the time since. She was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church, and had always been active in church and community activities. her husband and son preceded her in death. 3375 | Walter “Scott” Milroy Walter “Scott’ Milroy, 90, Winchester, died May 16 1994, at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital, Winchester, after a short illness. He was born April 5, 1904, at Quinter, the son of James S. and Nellie A. Bailey Milroy. He had lived in Winchester since 1949. Mr. Milroy was a longtime custodian and bus driver for the Winchester Public Schools. He had previously worked for farmers in the Winchester area and operated a portable feed mill for many years. He was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Winchester, and was a former elder of the church. He was a charter member of the Winchester Lions Club for over 40 years. He was married to Edith A. McElroy May 23, 1930, at Quinter. She preceded him in death Aug. 3, 1991. He is survived by four sons, Leland Milroy, Wellsville, Eugene Milroy, Omaha, Gary Milroy, Winchester, and Robert Milroy Prairie Village; two daughters, Nellie Perry, Oskaloosa, and Joan Adams, Middleton, Wisc.; one brother, Raymond Milroy, Wakefield; three sisters, Evadne Graham and Luella Graham, both of Quinter, and Jennie McMahan, Clay Center; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, at the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Winchester, with the Rev. Paul Finley officiating. Funeral Service will be 7 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Anderson Funeral Home Ltd., DeKalb; and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2006, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, Iowa . The Rev. Darryl Erickson will officiate the services on Sunday. Burial will be at Indian Creek Cemetery, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Mrs. Baird was born July 31, 1923, in Grandview, Iowa, the daughter of Mike and Hazel Wiele Shew. She married Philip J. Baird on Oct. 21, 1945, in Grandview. He preceded her in death in 2002. She spent many years working at the DeKalb Bank and Northern Illinois University, where she retired after more than 20 years. She had a passion for her family as well as telling stories and making others laugh. She spent many years entertaining people as "LaLee-Pop" the clown. She was a helper to others and was actively a giver of random acts of kindness. The Leonard Street neighborhood will have an empty spot, as she was a great neighbor to all. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and the 8/40 Group. She enjoyed serving veterans and was involved with their project to help children with Cystic Fibrosis at the Jewish Children's Hospital in Denver, Colo. She could be seen all dressed up in her Red Hat as she socialized with the Red Hatter's Club of DeKalb. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Hoyle and husband Randy of Naperville; a granddaughter, Valerie Rusin and husband Jason of Montgomery, Ill.; a sister, Norma Yoder and husband Elwood of Kalona, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Durst of Muscatine, Iowa, and Mary V. 3382 | Wendall William Adams, M.D., 90, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at the Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born May 15, 1915 to William Henry and Sarah Jane (Shaw) Adams in Hastings, Neb. Dr. Adams graduated from high school in Grant, Neb., in 1932, from Hastings College in 1936, and from Northwestern University Medical School in 1940. He was married to Helene Burton Starr from 1939 until her death in 1985. He served in the Navy Medical Corps as a Lieutenant, j.g., from 1944 to 1946. He practiced obstetrics and gynecology in Cleveland, Ohio and was on the staff at St. Luke's and University Hospitals in Cleveland for 41 years. He was an active member of The Church of The Master in Cleveland where he was a soloist in the choir. He was a member of numerous medical associations and a past President of the Cleveland Society of OB/GYN. He married Lenla (Fletcher) Wiseman in Scottsdale, Ariz. on May 12, 1986. After his retirement in 1987, he was a part-year resident of both Alliance, Neb., and Phoenix, and became an avid golfer. He was an active member in the United Methodist Church in Alliance and the Desert Foothills United Methodist Church in Phoenix, where he continued participating in both choirs until 2004. He is survived by his wife Lenla Adams; sisters Theone Kent of Grant, Neb., and Evelyn and husband Gordon Tegnell of Chapel Hill, N. C.; children Dr. Susan Belz and husband Robert Hurwich of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Rinda and husband Daniel Beck of Glenview, Ill., and Dr. Wendall William and wife Nancy Adams, Jr. of Puyallup, Wash.; stepchildren Jane and husband Russell Lance of Phoenix, and Roy Wiseman of Scottsdale; grandchildren Robin Belz (Edward Alvarran), Peter (Laura) Belz, Christina and Allison Beck, Katherine and Lauren Adams, Grady and Kelcey Lance, and Rider Wiseman; great-grandchildren Andrew and Alexis Belz, and Caroline Alvarran Belz; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Helene, and his son Gary. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 15 at Messinger Indian School Mortuary in Scottsdale.
