John G. McKeown and Anna Parker were married Tuesday Feb 27th 1849.
on a separate page labeled marriage Certificate, there are inserted photographs of John and Annie with the form on the page filled in to read as follows:
Mr. John G. McKeown and Miss Annie Parker were solemnly united by me in the HOLY BONDS of MATRIMONY at the brides parents on the 27th day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand, Eight Hundred and forty nine conformably to the Ordinance of God and the Laws of the State. In presence of James McKeown, Robert Paxton. Signed Rev. Patterson.

May 12, 1848, two young men, Henry and John McKeown, landed in Burlington and came directly to Yellow Spring township, and entered land. Henry entered the land on which he lived for many years. After securing his home he returned to Ohio and married. His wife came with him to his western home, but she lived only a short time. Later he made another trip to Ohio, and married Rebecca Paxton. He lived on his farm and raised his family of seven children, all of whom went to Superior, Nebraska as they became of age. The parents moved there later, where the father died in a few years. This branch of the family are all in the west.
John married Ann Parker, daughter of John and Margaret Parker, in 1848. He lived on this original farm till 1865, when he sold to R. M. Wilson, and bought 240 acres of Wm. Lyon, on the Wapello road, where he lived till after the death of his wife which occurred March 7th, 1892. There were twelve children born to these parents; three died in childhood. Those living are Sarah J., James A., Mary L., Moses P. lives at Myrtle, Iowa, John L., Perry, Ok., Samantha, Burlington, Emma, Ira, Eau Claire, Wis., Albert, Burlington. The father now has his home with his son James.

John and ANNIE PARKER- McKeown, who came with their parents from Ireland to America in their childhood, living first in Ohio and later in Iowa.
They were married in Des Moines county and there continued until their deaths. The father at one time was the owner of one hundred and eighty acres of land, all of which he divided among his children except forty acres that he owned at the time of his death.
He was a man of many fine qualities and a great lover of his family. Of the eleven children comprising the home circle two died in infancy, the others being : Sarah, now of Mediapolis, Iowa ; James, who lives near Morning Sun, Iowa ; Mary, now deceased ; M. Parker, our subject ; John, who lives near Prairie City, Oklahoma ; Samantha, of Mediapolis; Emma, of Burlington, Iowa ; Ira, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and Albert, of St. Joseph, Missouri.
