- Milton A. Robertson, 72, of rural Douds died at 7:07 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, in the emergency room of Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
Born Sept. 14, 1939, in rural Morning Sun, he was the son of James R. and Jennie Elvessie Meyers Robertson. On June 17, 1961, he married Janell V. Luebs in Denver.
Mr. Robertson farmed south of Douds, owned and operated Douds Kwik Stop convenience store and was a longtime bus driver for Van Buren Community Schools. He worked as a range conservationist for the U.S. Forest Service in Colorado and northern California, retired in 1987 and moved to Douds.
He graduated from Morning Sun High School and Colorado State University.
He served as chairman of the administrative board of Christ United Methodist Church in Douds and served the church in many capacities.
He was a past master of Celestial Lodge No. 413, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Douds, member of Ottumwa York Rite and Davenport Scottish Rite Masonic bodies and currently president of Ottumwa Scottish Rite Club.
He was Chequest township clerk, member of Douds Community Club and previous member of Lions Clubs in the West and in Cantril. He was active in the Republican Party.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cindy Rawls of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Elizabeth Enserro of Lonetree, Colo.; one son, James Robertson of Douds; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Janet Caudle of Bonne Terre, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, rural Morning Sun.
