- Gwendolyn Clare Cooper was born in Madrid, Nebraska to Andrew and Wilma Adams on August 16, 1927. She graduated from Madrid High School. She went on to Nebraska Wesleyan University where she graduated with a degree in Business Education in 1948.
She met the love of her life, William Gerald Cooper, at Nebraska Wesleyan when she was a senior. They married in Madrid in 1949. She worked as a Typing Teacher and a secretary until the couple moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where Bill had a teaching position. The couple moved many more times during their life together due to Bill's career as a Methodist minister - Gering, Nebraska, Worland, Wyoming, Pecatonica, Illinois, many towns and cities in Colorado Walden, Broomfield, Littleton, Pueblo, Lakewood, back to Cheyenne and back to Pueblo and, finally retiring in Colorado Springs.
When Bill retired, Gwen and he traveled around the US in their 5th wheel trailer and overseas. Bill died in 2010.
Gwen is survived by her younger sister, Lynelle (William) Brown, three children and their spouses - Connie and Gilbert Vigil, Gerry and Kerry Cooper and Rich and Barb Cooper. She is also the proud grandparent of 5 - Amy (Scott) Kruse, Bill (Pam) Vigil, Kristin (Josh) Cooper, Cory (Dan) Cooper and Andy Cooper and two great granddaughters - Tara and Solana.
Gwen was loving and giving. She devoted her life to her family and to being the consummate minister's wife and partner in ministry. She loved being a part of the church and felt that it gave back to her more than she ever gave
