    • TIPPIN, Ralph Sterling, D.D.S.
Born in Santa Ana, California on January 23, 1923 he passed away on February 21, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife Louise; his daughter Laurie and partner Mark of Susanville; his son Scott and daughter-in-law Debbie of Ione with granddaughters Chelsea and Kayla; and granddaughters Tavia and Christina of Alaska; and preceded in death by his son Chris. Ralph attended the University of Berkeley California, followed by the University of California Dental School in San Francisco after serving during World War II in the amphibious forces of the Navy in the Pacific Theater. While a student he and Louise were married and soon after they moved to Sacramento where he practiced dentistry until retirement in 1987. Ralph had many interests throughout the years. He was active in Boy Scouts with his two sons, enjoyed camping and backpacking with his family and friends, learned to weld and woodwork, played bridge and liked tending to his vegetable garden. Writing and playing music was Ralph's greatest calling and he played the piano for over seventy years. Since his time as a pianist and organist for Arden Christian Church he provided musical entertainment for a number of local retirement homes and played in an adult education symphony. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Arden Christian Church, 4300 Las Cruces Way, Sacramento CA 95864. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VITAS Hospice Charitable Fund (3841 N Freeway Blvd. Suite 210, Sacramento, CA 95834) or Arden Christian Church.
