Family tradition tell's us that in the summer of 1862 they went back to Harrison County, Ohio. HANNAH JANE (Alexander) McKEOWN, age 31, was suffering from Tuberculosis and new she was dying. She wanted to visit her parents in Ohio before her death. While she was visiting her parents she died on 2 Dec. 1862, at the age of 32 years. She is buried in the Londonderry U. P. (Covenanter) Cemetery, Londonderry, Ohio where a Headstone marks her grave.
Her three children,
Mary R., age 6yrs
John A., age 4yrs
James U., age 2 yrs
were left with out a mother.
Some 2 years later Alexander, Jr. age 34, with three young children married the 34 year old Miss JANE "Jennie" CLARK on the 29th of Nov. 1864, in Harrison Co., OH. and decided to return to Iowa.
Alexander McKEOWN, Jr., some time between Nov. 1964 and prior to Oct. 1865 with his second wife JANE "JENNIE" (CLARK) McKEOWN and their three small children returned to the first farm on Section 27, Buchanan Twp., Page County, where the oldest daughter MARY ROSE McKEOWN died on 26th day of Oct. 1865 at the young age of one month less of being 10 years of age, cause Unknown.
