      Emma Jane was the daughter of James Wishart and Margaret Ann Miller. She was born near Cambridge Twp, Guernsey, OH. Emma is identified on the 1880 US Census in Jefferson, Guernsey, OH living with her parents and six siblings; William, Jesse, James, Elizabeth, Laura and John. Emma's first marriage was to Jonathan Edgar Peoples on November 4, 1886 in Guernsey County, Ohio. Emma is identified on the 1900 US Census in Jefferson, Guernsey, OH living with her parents, Emma's three children; George, Glen and Otta, and Emma's siblings; William and Retta. Emma is identified on the 1910 US Census in Madison, Guernsey, OH living with her three children.
