- Floretta Bellmon, 81, of Red Rock, Okla., was born March 9, 1925, to John Henry and Mannie Lee (Bright) Reichert of rural El Reno. She left this earth on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006.
Floretta completed elementary school at rural Okarche and graduated salutatorian from Calumet High School. She received her undergraduate and master's degrees from Central State College. Her postgraduate studies were at Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma.
She taught at John Adams Elementary School in Oklahoma City before moving to Montana where she taught at the public schools, The College of Great Falls and Malmstrom Air Force Base. When she returned to Oklahoma, she was the supervisor of the girls dormitory at Concho Indian School.
Floretta concluded a long teaching career in 1993 at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa where she taught for 22 years.
She enjoyed traveling, ceramics and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Bellmon was a member of Ceres Christian Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at First Christian Church in Perry with Rev. Gary Hill officiating. Interment was in the Union Cemetery at Billings. Services were under direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry.
Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Okla. 73077.
Floretta is survived by her husband, George, whom she married on May 15, 1971, in Tonkawa; two daughters, Marleta London and husband, Gary of Manassas, Va., and Lavinda Holcomb and husband, Charlie of Grove; and two grandchildren, Christopher Miller and wife, Joy of Springfield, Va., and Kyla Holcomb, of Boulder, Colo.
Her parents preceded her in death.
