Notes - Nighswonger, Edith Evelyn (Hawks), beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with her Savior on May 3, 2007. She was 100 years old. Visitation with family 2:00-4:00 pm, Sunday, Broadway Mortuary. Funeral service 10:30 am, Monday, Immanuel Baptist Church. Edith was born January 12, 1907 to Frank and Lydia Hawks. She married Lawrence Richard Nighswonger on August 25, 1935. Prior to raising her family, she worked at Swenson Safety Corner. She was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 75 years. Edith was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Judy Simmons. She is survived by her children, Larry and Sherry Nighswonger of Wichita, Karen and Bud Smith of Independence, MO and Gene Simmons of August, KS; 6 grandchildren and their spouses; and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial have been established with Immanuel Baptist Church and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Services by Broadway Mortuary.
