Survivors are her husband, Silas; a son, Emmett of Jacksonburg, O.; four daughters, Mrs. F.J. Hall, Mrs. James Guyler and Mrs. Delbert Martin, all of Middletown and Mrs. G.W. McGohan of Monroe; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Burial will be in Woodside cemetery.

2652 Mrs. Sarah Spivey Of Crab Orchard Succumbs At Home
Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Spivey, age 85, of Crab Orchard, died Aug. 14 at the home of a son, Gabe Hoskins, following an illness of 14 months.
Mrs. Spivey, a widow, was a native of Clay County. She was a daughter of the late Mrs. William and Mrs. Margaret Saundlin Shelton. She was a member of the Church of God.
She is survived by five sons, Frank and Jim Hoskins, both of Illinois; Charles and Gabe Hoskins, both of Crab Orchard; Morris Hoskins, Franklin, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Laura Porter, Muskegon, Mich.; Mrs. Margaret Fratick, Georgetown, Ill.; Mrs. Lula Odell, Danville, Ill.; two step-sons, Henry Spivey, Crab Orchard; Arthurs Spivey, Danville, Ill.; four step-daughters, Mrs. Bessie Robinson and Mrs. Josephine Spath, both of Hamilton, Ohio; Mrs. Stella Newcomb and Eunice Hoskins, both of Crab Orchard; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Cress, Salem, Ind.; Mrs. Maudie Murray, Berea; two brothers, Larkin Shelton, Corbin; Hiram Shelton, Manchester; 65 grandchildren, 108 great grandchildren and 28 great great grandchildren.
Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. Carl Proffitt at the Howard Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in the Crab Orchard Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Howard Funeral Home.

Lewiston, Idaho - Mrs. Silas (Bertha L.) Regan, 83, died yesterday at the Orchards Nursing Home.

She operated a nursing home in Clarkston, Wash., for four years. She married John M. Smith in Arkansas in 1908 and they were divorced in 1935. She married William Sturgill at Silcott, Wash., in 1938 and he died in 1951.Her third husband, Silas J. Regan, survives in Gooding, Idaho.

Survivors also include two daughters, Opal Stewart, Monterey, Calif., and Mrs. Frank (Edith) Caragio, Lewiston; two sons, Jack Smith, Tacoma, and Johnie Smith, Fairbanks, Alaska; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers, George Mahaffey, Pasco, Wash., and Edwald Mahaffey, Clarkston and three sisters, Mrs. Laura Halliday, Odessa, Tex.; Mrs. Ida Watson, Portland, and Inez LaBorne, Lakewood, Calif.

Funeral services are pending at Malcom's Brower-Wann Chapel.

Mrs. Irene B. Cole, 60, wife of Solomon (Solly) W. Cole, 1823 Nicholasville Road, died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Hospital after an illness of five months.
She was a former Fayette County school teacher, and was one of the first teachers in the Head Start program. She had been on a leave of absence since April.
She was a native of Union County and was a daughter of the late Camden R. and Ella Arnold Brummette. She received her A.B. and did graduate work at the University of Kentucky, was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Mizpha Sunday School class.
She was a member of Phi Mu sorority, Fayette County Teachers’ Association, Kentucky Education Association and National Education Association.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, W.J. Brummette, Denver, Colo.
The body was taken to the W.R. Milward Mortuary – Broadway, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the W.R. Milward Mortuary – Broadway, by the Rev. Franklin Owen. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery.

Beattyville, June 25 – Mrs. Sophia Seale, 76, died Sunday at her home after a long illness. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Arthur Seale, Austin, Ind.; Morton and Dennis Seale, Beattyville; one daughter, Mrs. George Noe, Beattyville; 30 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. (CST) Tuesday at the Newman Funeral Home by the Rev. Charlie Evans. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home.

2656 Mrs. Susan Ponder Dies At Ottawa
Mrs. Susan Paulina Ponder, age 97, of Livingston died Nov. 27 at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Bernice Martin, Ottawa. She also made her home with a son, Ben Ponder, Livingston.
Mrs. Ponder, a native of Maulden, Jackson, County, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Brummett. She moved with her family to Livingston while a young girl. Her husband, who she married at the age of 20, Mr. F.M. Ponder Sr., died in 1939.
She was one of 27 persons to organize the Union Baptist Church and was the last living charter member.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Winnie Kelly, Hamilton, Ohio; three sons, W.H. Ponder, Livingston; Dan J. Ponder, Livingston, 28 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Union Baptist Church with the Revs. Murphy and H.L. Ponder officiating.
Burial was at the Family Cemetery, Red Hill, Rockcastle County.
Grandsons served as pallbearers and granddaughters were flower girls.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Howard Funeral Home.

2657 Mrs. Vida Thompson, age 89, departed this life Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Laurel Creek Health Care. She was born May 28, 1926 to Robert and Amanda (Wilson) Murray. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Burning Springs Church of God.

She is survived by her children: Billy Wayne Thompson and wife Annie and David Lee Thompson and wife Daisy. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren: William Denver Allen Thompson and wife Tami and Vincent Thompson; 1 sister: Bobbie Colwell of Scottsburg, IN; a special friend: Aretta Smith.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Lloyd Thompson; her parents Robert and Amanda Murray; her children: Vanda and Wanda Thompson and these brothers and sisters: John Arthur Murray, Samuel Murray, Dallas Murray, Hobart Murray, William Murray, Elva Buttry, Maxie Rice, Mary Rice, Zola Fields, and Georgia Deaton.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 2:00 P. M. at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bennie Fields and Rev. Bobby Couch officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson Cemetery in Burning Springs Community.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P. M. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.

Mt. Vernon - Mrs. Virginia Mason Ponder, 41, of Mt. Vernon, widow of Lyman Ponder, died Saturday morning at the Rockcastle County Baptist Hospital. She was a member of the Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors are a son, Ted Ponder; a daughter, June Ponder, both at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mason, Livingston; four sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Gregory, Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Daisy Halcomb, London; Mrs. Lucille Halcomb, Columbia, and Mrs. Amelia Roberts, Charlestown, Ind., and a brother, Grady Mason, Dayton, Ohio.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church by the Rev. J. William Hall. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cox Funeral Home.

Salix, Iowa – Mrs. William Tankersley, 64, Salix, died Tuesday in a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Salix Community Methodist Church. The Rev. Greg Hackett will officiate.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at rose Hill Cemetery at Scotland, S.D. Burial will be under direction of the Wood Funeral Home of Sloan.
Mrs. Tankersley, the former Marjorie D. Goerndt, was born June 2, 1915, at Minnesota Lake, Minn.
She was married Sept. 14, 1964, at Little Falls, Minn. Mr. Tankersley died Dec. 15, 1977.
Mrs. Tankersley had worked at several jobs, retiring in 1977. She had lived at Salix for the last five years. Prior to that she lived at Mondamin for two years and had worked at Snyders Bend near Salix for three years. She had also lived in South Dakota.
She was a member of the Tyndall (S.D.) Lutheran Church and attended Salix Community Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Evelyne Hanson and Mrs. Madalyne Gigear, both of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Seiner of Avon, S.D.

Mt. Vernon, Ky., Aug. 20 – (AP) – Waiving preliminary trail, Joe Clark, 22, was free under $2,000 bond today in connection with the fatal shooting Saturday of John Spivey, 21, near Livingston.
Authorities said the shooting followed a drinking bout. They said they were told Clark shot Spivey after the latter threatened him.

Virgil was a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII, attended First Baptist Church of Englewood, and an avid golfer. He retired from Duriron as a General Foreman with over 32 years of service. Virgil is survived by his wife of 53 years: Florence (Ponder) Mullins; one daughter and son-in-law: Debbie (Al) Warren of Clayton; two grandchildren: Adam (Trista) Warren of Clayton & Rachel (Pete) Jones of Butler Twp.; two great grandsons: Jasper Jones & A.J. Warren; three sisters: Irene Herron of London, KY, Wenona Brown of Richmond, KY & Fannie Hicks of Dayton; one brother: Danny Mullins of Centerville; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: William Daniel & Erma Francis (Reams) Mullins, daughter: Patricia Mullins; sister: Norma Busehelman; and brother: Benton Mullins. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. on Monday, February 9, at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood). His funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with entombment in Evergreen Mausoleum. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday and after noon Tuesday.

2667 MURRAY, William Glen-- August 6, 1927 - February 26, 2002. William Glen Murray, 74, died in Dallas, Oregon on Tuesday, February 26 after an 18 year struggle with Parkinson's Syndrome. He was born in Burning Springs, Kentucky. He attended Sue Bennett College, Eastern Kentucky University and San Jose State University where he received a B.S. degree in business administration.
He was a Korea era war veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. He played an early role in the establishment of the Lockheed Missiles and Space Division in Sunnyvale, California. After a long administrative career, he retired from Lockheed in 1990.
He enjoyed hunting and real estate investment. He was a longstanding member of the Willow Glen Alliance Church in San Jose, California.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roger. He is survived by his loving wife Nellie of Dallas, Oregon; and two sons, Michael Glen and Bryan Keith. He has three grandchildren.
A burial service will be conducted at Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose on Friday, March 1st. The family requests no floral gifts, donations may be made to the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation, 1206 123rd Av., Bellevue WA, 98005. The family wishes to thank relatives, church family, physicians and caregivers for their kind and sensitive efforts.

Myrtle Evans, 90, of Karen Acres Nursing Home, 3605 Elm Drive, Urbandale, died of a respiratory ailment there Monday. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Van meter Cemetery.
Mrs. Evans was born in Lamoni and had lived in the Des Moines area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by a son, Carl of Clive; two daughters, Juanita Hansen of Urbandale and Beverly Bartels of Sugar Creek, Mo.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa. Brooks Funeral Car in Clive is handling arrangements.

Notes: Patrolman Aven and Sergeant John Ramsey were killed in an automobile accident while en route to Sweetwater, Texas, to follow up on a perjury investigation. During the drive another vehicle entered their travel lane while attempting to pass another car. Sergeant Ramsey took evasive action and swerved to the right. At the same time the oncoming car swerved to the left and the two vehicle collided head-on. Sergeant Ramsey was killed instantly and Patrolman Aven succumbed to his injuries the following day. A third police officer in the vehicle survived the accident.

Patrolman Aven had been with the agency for four years and was survived by his wife and daughter.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Luther Clayton Hill; parents, John and Martha Brown; son, Johnny Hill; and several siblings.

He was a native of Clay county and a member of the Holiness church. Survivors, in addition to Mrs. Ashcraft, include three sons, Bradley Robinson, Winchester; Frank and Ora Robinson, both of Dayton, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holiness church at Ford, conducted by the Rev. William Hale. Burial will follow in the Warner cemetery.

Mr. Neal was a U.S. Army veteran and former member of the Kiwanis Club. He retired from Republic Diesel and formerly operated Rim and Wheel Service. Survivors include a daughter, Terry Neal, Lexington; and several nieces and nephews, James (Carol) Tuttle, Debbie (Mohammed) Seraji, Richard Jones, Wayne (Jackie) Jones, Ronald (Sandy) Jones, Carol Hattaway, Sue (Steve) Mitchell, Glenda Myers, and Gary (Zandra) Jones. Funeral services will be 12:30pm Mon at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Rev. Dave Parks. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Tuttle, Thomas Clarkson, Rick Griffieth, Bill Arnold, Bill Messer, and Jerry Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Hillard, and Tommy Neal. Born November 24, 1906 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late William Terrill and Carrie Wiley Hurst. She was the widow of William J. Brummette who died in December 1995. She was a member of Beargrass Christian Church. Survivors include: one daughter, Donna Petty, Louisville; one son, Ronald J. Brummette, Sr., Jeffersontown; three brothers, Melvin S. Hurst and Z. B. Hurst, both of Lexington; James R. Hurst, Brookport, IL; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several relatives in Mercer County. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24, at Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

She married Charles Kidwell on Oct. 18, 1940 and he preceded her death on Nov. 8, 1984. She was a long-time member of the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority, an active member of the Oxford United Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, Oxford. Burial was in the Somerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or the Oxford United Methodist Church.

She was a native of Livingston, Ky. She had lived in Lynn for 22 years, and in the general area since 1940. She was a member of the Lynn Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband, Ellie; four sons, Homer, Jim and Tery, all of Richmond, and Tim of Lynn; three daughters, Glenda Tucker of Lynn, Sandra Mullins of Cincinnati and Sherry Westlake of Marina Del Rey, Calif.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Terry of Cincinnati and Tessaline Carpenter of Livingston; two brothers, Elmer and Casper Spivey, both of Livingston.
Funeral services for Nevareen Robinson will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Lynn Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. C. P/ Hurry officiating. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery, Fountain City. Friend may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas Funeral Home and after noon Wednesday at the church.

Services for Nicholas Forret, 52, of 2543 Lyon st., who died of a heart attack Saturday at Wilden Hospital, will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Burial will be in the cemetery at Booneville.
Mr. Forret, who had been ill six weeks, was a fork lift operator at the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. plant. He was born in Dallas County and moved here from Van Meter 14 years ago.
Surviving are his widow, Alberta; five daughters, Katherine and Cindy Forret of Des Moines, Mrs. Betty O’Leary of Johnston, Mrs. Mary Lou McKeehan of Topeka, Kan., and Mrs. Barbara Moorhead of DeSoto; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Hanlon of Waukee and Mrs. Lucille Hol of Adel, and six grandchildren.

Nina Lorena Dietrich, 85, of San Luis Obispo died Thursday, Oct. 12, 1989, at a San Luis Obispo convalescent hospital.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saints, 1603 Sydney St., San Luis Obispo. The Rev. Maurice Rosengren will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park.
Mrs. Dietrich was born Oct. 4, 1904, in Eagleville, Mo. She had lived in South Gate before moving to San Luis Obispo.
She graduated from high school in Missouri and the 4C’s Business College in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was an office manager at the Nemethi and Hall Industrial Hospital in Vernon for 25 years before her retirement.
In 1969, her husband Frank L. Dietrich built their new home with his own hands in San Luis Obispo.
Mrs. Dietrich loved bowling. She received many trophies for her gardening.
She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a volunteer at San Luis Obispo General Hospital for many years, and for Meals on Wheels. She was also a secretary for the San Luis Obispo Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her husband, Frank L. Dietrich of San Luis Obispo; two daughters, Joyce L. Middleton of San Luis Obispo and Sharon J. Keeler of Independence, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Jeanine Sheffield of Corona; four granddaughters and five great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert B. Kelly.
Arrangements are by Reis Chapel in San Luis Obispo.

She was born February 23, 1937 in Ozark, Arkansas to the late Elsey and Eula Mae Dickerson. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker and as a member of Spradling Baptist Church.

During her empty-nest years she enjoyed employment at Midwest Refreshment Service. Nina was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, William "Bill" Hicks. Nina is survived by her four daughters. Judy Sallee of Fort Smith, Diane McDaniel and husband Mark of Fort Smith, Linda Williams and husband Fred of Fort Smith, Lisa Haynes and husband Richard of Spiro, one sister Lena Cook and brother David Dickerson both of Charleston. Nina was also preceded in death by special friend, Harold Steele and is survived by Liz Beckman whom Nina considered her fifth daughter.

Services were Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Spradling Baptist Church under the direction of Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel with interment at the National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Seth Haynes, Caleb Hobday, Josh Holloway, Keith McDaniel, Matthew Sallee and Mitchell Sallee. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons at Spradling Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Pansy, Jamie and Destiny with Peachtree Hospice for their excellent loving care of mom.

2697 Norene Pingleton, age 90, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident, was born on Friday, July 3, 1931, to Orvel and Pauline (Lenning) Meeks, at home in Tushka, OK. Norene passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Coalgate, OK.

She attended Tushka Public School and graduated from Atoka High School in 1949. Norene was a secretary for Harmony School until her retirement on June 30, 1991. She married Bill Pingleton Sr. on Thursday, December 17th, 1953.They enjoyed almost 48 years of marriage before his passing on November 14, 2001. Norene was a member of Wards Chapel Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling with friends, missionary work, and loved playing with her grandchildren.

Norene is survived by her daughter, Gayla Alford Smith of Caney, OK; sons, Billy Pingleton Jr. and wife Sheila of Tushka, OK, Larry Pingleton and wife Kim of Atoka, OK, Keith Pingleton of Atoka, OK; sisters, Delita Taylor and husband D.C. of Caney, OK, Jimmy Ray Long of Midwest City, OK; grandchildren, Clint Alford and wife Casey of Caney, OK, Amy Schoot and husband Wade of Hugo, OK, Amanda Lawrence and husband Ryan of Carthage, TX, Billy Ray Pingleton III of Caddo, OK, Denym Miller and husband Clifton of Atoka, OK, Kaci Stephens and husband Allen of Prosper, TX, Taylor Henderson and husband Jacob of Oklahoma City, OK, Pacer Pingleton of Atoka, OK, Chloe Harner of Atoka, OK, Bethany Pingleton of Ukiah, CA; along with many great grandchildren, other relatives and many dear friends.
