3601 Mrs. Kelley
Mrs. Margaret J. Kelley, 88, 1427 Tuley Road, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday in Mercy Hospital.
She was born in Clay County, Ky., a daughter of John and Mazie Phipps McDaniel, and received her education in the schools of Rockcastle County, Ky.
Mrs. Kelley was a member of the Red Hill Baptist Church, Livingston, Ky.
In 1901, she married Smith Edward Kelley who preceded her in death in 1970.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Troy (Katherine) Townsend, Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Fred (Helen) Whitaker, Hamilton; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Webb Funeral Home, Ross Ave. and S. D. St. Burial will be in Millville cemetery. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

3602 Mrs. Laura Hayes Taken by Death
Mrs. Laura Hayes, age 53, wife of John Hayes, died of complications, at their home, 925 Ridgelawn avenue, at 5 p.m. Monday after an illness of nearly one year. She fell and broke her hip last December at her home, and had been in ailing health since.
Although a native of Kentucky, Mrs. Hayes spent nearly all her life in Hamilton and was widely known and highly respected. Besides the bereaved widower, survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Edith McVicker, Cincinnati, and Mrs. W.J. Schneider, Hamilton; two sons, Marvin and Edgar, of Hamilton; three sisters, Mrs. Keith Clark, of Cleveland, and Mrs. Rose Tankersley and Mrs. Charles Kratzer, of Dayton; one brother, Dr. Thomas A. Robinson , of Corbin, Ky., and a large number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Robert L. Klaus funeral home, F street and Elvin avenue, with Rev. H.A. Dickman, pastor of the Bethel church, officiating. Burial will be made in Greenwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday.

3603 Mrs. Lela Hacker, age 90 of Fogertown departed this life on Monday, January 2, 2017 at her home. She was born on Sunday, May 23, 1926 in Manchester to the union of Johnny and Nancy Shelton Murray.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of over 74 years: Nick Hacker. She is also survived by her son: Ronnie Hacker and his wife Sue, her daughter: Marsha Kay Smith and her husband Alvin, 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and her sister: Laura Irvin.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Johnny and Nancy Murray and 8 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lela Hacker will be on Thursday, January 5, at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. William Hugh Hudson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.

3604 Mrs. Lennie Reynolds
Hamilton – Funeral services for Mrs. Lennie B. Reynolds, who died Sunday in a Hamilton hospital, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Dowling Chapel.
The Rev. Charles Alloway will officiate. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
She was born in 1885 in Kentucky and was educated here. She moved to Ohio and married Charles Reynolds in that state in 1925. She later divorced him and moved to Hamilton in 1943 and had lived there since then.
She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and active in the Dorcus.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond and James, of Hamilton, and a daughter, Reba Falk, of Hamilton; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Brandenburg in Ohio, and Mrs. Ollie Taylor and Mrs. Otha Caldwell in Kentucky; and three brothers, Hugh Brandenburg in Ohio, Dudley and Bergie Brandenburg in Kentucky; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Elwood - Mrs. Lenora Hensley Baldwin, 68, 2418 S. C St., died at 9 a.m. Thursday at Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 11, 1902, in Clay County, Ky., a daughter of Ira and Mary Murray Hensley. Her husband Everett Baldwin died in 1965.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Fern, Anderson, Mrs. May Gardner, and Mrs. Eunadine Dowler, both of Elwood; three sons, Francis Baldwin and Donald Baldwin, both of Elwood, and Chester Baldwin of Frankton; three brothers, Conrad Hensley, Boyd Hensley and Henry Hensley, and four sisters, Mrs. Lena Davidson, Mrs. Tennie Clark, Mrs. Cynthia Lacy and Mrs. Ersa Harding, all of Indiana; 23 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Jackley-Landrum Funeral home by the Rev. Richard Fagg of the Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Elwood City Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the mortuary after 7 p.m. Saturday.

3609 Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Fitzhugh Marcum, 89 of Hope, passed away, Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in a local hospital. Mrs. Marcum was born October 19, 1922 in Oklahoma to Mr. and Mrs. William Fitzhugh. She was a home maker and attended the Church of Christ. Mrs. Marcum loved to sew, read and work in her She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oscar Marcum, two sons; Oscar Wayne Marcum and Ronald Wayne "Ronnie" Marcum and brother; John Wester.

Survivors include, her son, Ralph Edward Marcum and wife, Lou Ann of Vinemont, Alabama, seven grandchildren: Karen Rosenbaum, Kathy Greene, Andrea Lee Marcum, Delaina Elizabeth Marcum, Kelly Marcum, Ronnie Marcum and Lohren Marcum, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchildren.

The Marcum Family will receive friends, 6:00 to 8:00pm, Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope.

Funeral service for Mrs. Marcum will be 2:00pm, Thursday, December 8, 2011 in the Chapel of Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hope.

Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Lucy Cornett of Flat Ridge, Mrs. Rachel Gore of Chilhowier, Mrs. Missouri Testerman of Atkins, Mrs. Hallie Gore of Grant, Mrs. Dora Wilson of Sugar Grove and Mrs. Jane Haga of Atkins, and two sons, G.S. of Marion and S.E. of Grant.
Funeral will be at the Pine Branch Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with interment in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Mary A. Catron, 93, formerly of the Blanchester area, died of complications Tuesday at 10:50 p.m. in the Lucas Nursing home. Wilmington Route 4. She had been I failing health for several years. Her husband Douglas Catron, died in 1958.
Mrs. Catron was born April 9, 1878, in Frenchburg, Ky., the daughter of Abner and Martha Smith Moore.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Butcher of Xenia, Mrs. Verna Greve of Dayton and Mrs. Jean Goodwin of Wilmington Route 6; two sons, Robert of Fayetteville and Stephen of Milford; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Hampton of Winchester, Ky.; three brother, one sister and a daughter are deceased.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the marsh funeral home with burial in the Blanchester IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

3615 Mrs. Mary Jane Marcus, aged 73, wife of Wm. Marcum, died at the family home in St. Paul Wednesday night about 12 o'clock after an illness of two weeks. Her condition had not been considered serious till a few days before her death when she began to suffer from heart failure. Mrs. Marcum, besides her husband, is survived by eight children, all of whom, except one son; Hugh, residing at McNab, Ark., were at her bedside. Those here were Mrs. Emily Tompkins, of Cass; Mrs. Nettie Hawkins of Lone Elm; Mrs. Lillie Roesch, of Little Rock; Cornelius Marcum of St. Paul; Louis Marcum of Combs; H.B. and Oscar Marcum of Dodge City, Kansas. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Mahaffey of Fayetteville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, conducted by Robert M. Reed, and burial was made at the Brashears cemetery.

3617 Mrs. Mary Rice, age 90 of Manchester, passed away Thursday, October 28th, 2004 at the Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born April 16th, 1914 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Bob and Amanda Wilson Murray. She was a homemaker and a member of the Manchester Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son: James B. Rice and wife Susan of Burning Springs, a special foster granddaughter: Helen Hubbard, 3 Grandchildren: Kim Keister of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Kaye Mills of Burning Springs, and Bill Rice of London, 6 Great Grandchildren: James Darrell Mills, Morgan Mills, Blake Mills, Chase Keister, Becca Keister, and Paige Keister. Also surviving are 1 Brother and 4 Sisters.
Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her parents: Bob and Amanda Wilson Murray, her husband: Roy David Rice and one son: Roy David Rice, Jr.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Rice will be Sunday, October 31st at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Roger Williams will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in the Burning Springs Community.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 30th after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.

Liberty – Mrs. Mary T. Metcalf, 85, died Monday at the Mary E. Hill Nursing Home in Richmond. She was a native of Jackson County, Ky., and had lived in Liberty for about two years. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Livingston, Ky.
Survivors include a son, William of Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Mathews of Liberty, and Mrs. Verna Ullery of Greens Fork; two brothers, Eli Hugh Hurley of Mount Vernon, Ky., and Luther Hurley of Livingston, Ky.; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Weaver of Richmond, and Mrs. Nanie Morris and Mrs. Martha Singleton of Mount Vernon, Ky.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mrs. Metcalf will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Red Hill Cemetery in Rockcastle County, Ky., with the Baker-Showalter, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, in charge. There will be no public calling.

She was born April 16th, 1914 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Robert & Amanda Wilson Murray. She was a homemaker & a member of the Burning Springs Church of God.

She is survived by these children: Hazel Marie Combs & husband Rudolph of Manchester, J. B. Rice & wife Brenda of Manchester, & Dorothy Jean "Buck" Rice of Manchester. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Mike Combs & his wife Wanda, Jeff Combs & his wife Linda, Virgella Robinson & her husband Jason, & Anthony Combs. 7 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren & these brothers & sisters survive: Zola Fields of Fogertown, Vida Thompson of Burning Springs, Georgia Deaton of London, Bobbie Colwell of Indiana, & Bill Murray of Kingston, Kentucky.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Robert & Amanda Murray, her husband: Virgil Rice, & these brothers & sisters: Arthur Murray, Dallas Murray, Sam Murray, Hobert Murray, Elva Buttery, & her twin sister: Mary Rice.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Maxie Ella Rice will be Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 at 11 AM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Benny Fields & Rev. Jeff Combs will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in the Burning Springs Community.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home by the Rev. Raymond Kays. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery. The body will arrive at the funeral home at noon today.

Born in Rockcastle Co., Ky., she was a daughter of Frank and Marvella Barnes Pruitt.
She married Bennett Mullins May 26, 1921 in Livingston, Ky., and he preceded her in death Feb. 4, 1965.
She was a member of the North Fairfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Truman (Marie) Ponder, Mrs. Ruford (Mable) Gentry, Mrs. James (Helen) Swanner, Mrs. John (Bernice) Chandler and Mrs. Elmer (Pauline) Adams, all of Hamilton; two brothers, Tommy Spivey, Livingston, Ky., and Reilies Spivey, Dayton; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be in the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, and visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Velma Oliver, Madison Heights, Mich.; three brothers, Howard and Harland Childers, Harrison, Ohio, and Walter Childers, Campton; 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Campton Methodist Church by the Rev. Carl Faulkner. Burial will be in the White Cemetery. Bearers will be grandchildren. The body was taken to the residence from the Shackelford Funeral Home.

Porter (Special) - Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Hawkins, 80, Las Animas, Colorado, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Methodist Church here with Reverend C. M. Moser, Officiating.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery under direction of Green Funeral Home of Wagoner. Pallbearers will include Alva Boyd, Earl Boyd, Jack Cole, Walter Eubanks, Bland Madden and Albert Yochum.

Mrs. Hawkins, a long-time Porter resident died Sunday. Her husband, Charles Hawkins, died in 1947. A Gold Star Mother, Mrs. Hawkins moved to Colorado in 1954.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Myers, Las Animas; two sons, George McElroy, Reseda, California, and Carter McElroy, Fairfield, California; three step-sons; five step-daughters; two sisters, four brothers, including Meal Marcum of Westville, and eight grandchildren.

3628 Mrs. Norma McCollum Robinson, 94, of Hiawassee, Ga., died Monday, Aug. 28, 2006, following a period of declining health.
She was born Feb. 27, 1912, the daughter of the late John Sr. and Rosie Bates McCollum in Murray County, Ga. She was a charter member of the Towns County AARP. She was the director of library services at St. Johns River Community College in Palatka, retiring in 1970.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert P. Robinson in 1989, as well as sisters, Dorothy Colwell, Elizabeth and Ruth McCollum and a brother, John McCollum Jr.
She is survived by a daughter and son-n-law, Marilyn and Thomas Yorkovitch of Marble, N.C.; three grandsons; one brother, Lowell T. McCollum and a sister, Lois Haddix, both of Berea, Ky.; five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at Berea Cemetery Mausoleum in Berea, Ky.

Mrs. Polly Ann Parks, 59, widow of Felix Parks, died last night following a heart attack. She had been slightly ill the day before. With her six sons Mrs. Parks operated their ranch in the Wide Hollow district following the death of her husband.

3630 Mrs. Robinson, mother of Mrs. Hedges, dies
Mrs. Caroline Robinson, 88, died Wednesday, October 23, ’63 at an Oxford, Ohio nursing home. Her death was unexpected although she had been in poor health the past several years.
Caroline Moore Robinson was born May 7, 1875 in Owsley, Ky. She was married to John Robinson in 1893 and they were the parents of seven children. They were former residents of Indianola. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Eva Hedges of Sidell, Miss Ida Robinson of Guadalajara, Mexico; two sons, Herman of Hamilton, Ohio and Harley of Dayton, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Mrs. Hedges left for Ohio Wednesday to attend the funeral services.

3631 Mrs. Ruby Riddle Ponder, age 87 of Tucson, AZ and formerly of Mt. Vernon and Lexington, KY, died Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at the Tucson Medical Center. She was the widow of Caleb Ponder and had taught elementary education in the Lexington schools and later kindergarten at Sayre School. She moved to Tucson after Caleb's death in 1989. She was a devout Christian, and an active member, at various times, of Gardenside Christian Church and the Southside and North Lexington Churches of Christ in Lexington. When her son, John pioneered Christian Faith Center in Tucson, she became a member and was an active participant in ministering to the homeless even until age 87. She is survived by her only son, John; and daughter-in-law, Eva; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Anna, and Joel; a brother, Dr. John James Riddle and sister-in-law Martha of Los Angeles, CA; and several nieces and nephews, Kathy Johnson of Grand Canyon, AZ, Julie Milligan of Pomona, CA, Lucille Lynn Philpot of Atlanta, GA, and Mary Alice Graves of Indianapolis, IN, Bill Ponder of Phoenix, AZ, Juddie Donaldson of Versailles, KY, Jennifer Wolken of Danville, KY, Roy Ponder of Anchorage, KY, and Casey Carroll of Knoxville, TN. Campton – Mrs. Malta Marie Fugate, 28, wife of Samuel Fugate, Hamilton, Ohio, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at a hospital there after a long illness. She was a native of Perry County.
Other survivors are a daughter, Vicki Lynn Spencer, and a son, Sheldon Lewis Fugate, both at home; her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Moore, Ajax; five brothers, Ralph, Thomas, Lloyd and Douglas Moore all of Hamilton, Ohio, and Lee Moore, Loveland, Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Smith, Trenton, Ohio.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Campton Methodist Church by the Rev. Carl Faulkner. Burial will be in the White Cemetery. The body is at the home of her mother at Ajax in Perry County.

3634 Mrs. Sarah Alice Warren, 88, a patient in the Sunnybreeze Convalescent Home, 350 Hancock Ave., died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Mercy Hospital, where she had been a patient since Aug. 5. She had been a patient at the convalescent home for three years prior to entering the hospital.

Born in Buckhanlon County, Va., on June 22, 1875, the daughter of James and Melinda Jackson Epperson, she was educated in the public schools of that community.

The last living member of a family of nine children, four boys and five girls, she was married to William Henry Warren in Owsley County, Ky., in January of 1898, and the devoted couples moved to Hamilton in 1909. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1948. Mr. Warren preceded her in death in that year.

Home of Daughter

The family lived on N.F St., Hamilton, for many years, and following her husband's death, Mrs. Warren made her home with a daughter, Mrs. W.A. (Melba) Schneider, 500 Marcia Ave.

An active member of First Baptist Church, Mrs. Warren was an ardent worker in the congregation and was a member of the Philathea Class of that parish.

A devoted wife and loving mother, Mrs. Warren dedicated her life to the welfare and happiness of her family. She enjoyed traveling, and during their 50 years of marriage Mr. And Mrs. Warren spent many happy times visiting throughout the country.

She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Schneider and Mrs. Paul (Charlene) Stewart, Columbus; two sons, Everett M. Warren and Robert L. Warren, both of Columbus; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Elmer A. Proeschel Funeral Home, 547 Main St., with the Rev. George B. Scripture, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Rose Hill Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Survivors are her husband, Silas; a son, Emmett of Jacksonburg, O.; four daughters, Mrs. F.J. Hall, Mrs. James Guyler and Mrs. Delbert Martin, all of Middletown and Mrs. G.W. McGohan of Monroe; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.

The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. B.H. Hillard. Interment took place in the Berea Cemetery.

3637 Mrs. Sarah Spivey Of Crab Orchard Succumbs At Home
Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Spivey, age 85, of Crab Orchard, died Aug. 14 at the home of a son, Gabe Hoskins, following an illness of 14 months.
Mrs. Spivey, a widow, was a native of Clay County. She was a daughter of the late Mrs. William and Mrs. Margaret Saundlin Shelton. She was a member of the Church of God.
She is survived by five sons, Frank and Jim Hoskins, both of Illinois; Charles and Gabe Hoskins, both of Crab Orchard; Morris Hoskins, Franklin, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Laura Porter, Muskegon, Mich.; Mrs. Margaret Fratick, Georgetown, Ill.; Mrs. Lula Odell, Danville, Ill.; two step-sons, Henry Spivey, Crab Orchard; Arthurs Spivey, Danville, Ill.; four step-daughters, Mrs. Bessie Robinson and Mrs. Josephine Spath, both of Hamilton, Ohio; Mrs. Stella Newcomb and Eunice Hoskins, both of Crab Orchard; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Cress, Salem, Ind.; Mrs. Maudie Murray, Berea; two brothers, Larkin Shelton, Corbin; Hiram Shelton, Manchester; 65 grandchildren, 108 great grandchildren and 28 great great grandchildren.
Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. Carl Proffitt at the Howard Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in the Crab Orchard Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Howard Funeral Home.

Lewiston, Idaho - Mrs. Silas (Bertha L.) Regan, 83, died yesterday at the Orchards Nursing Home.

She operated a nursing home in Clarkston, Wash., for four years. She married John M. Smith in Arkansas in 1908 and they were divorced in 1935. She married William Sturgill at Silcott, Wash., in 1938 and he died in 1951.Her third husband, Silas J. Regan, survives in Gooding, Idaho.

Survivors also include two daughters, Opal Stewart, Monterey, Calif., and Mrs. Frank (Edith) Caragio, Lewiston; two sons, Jack Smith, Tacoma, and Johnie Smith, Fairbanks, Alaska; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers, George Mahaffey, Pasco, Wash., and Edwald Mahaffey, Clarkston and three sisters, Mrs. Laura Halliday, Odessa, Tex.; Mrs. Ida Watson, Portland, and Inez LaBorne, Lakewood, Calif.

Funeral services are pending at Malcom's Brower-Wann Chapel.

Mrs. Irene B. Cole, 60, wife of Solomon (Solly) W. Cole, 1823 Nicholasville Road, died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Hospital after an illness of five months.
She was a former Fayette County school teacher, and was one of the first teachers in the Head Start program. She had been on a leave of absence since April.
She was a native of Union County and was a daughter of the late Camden R. and Ella Arnold Brummette. She received her A.B. and did graduate work at the University of Kentucky, was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Mizpha Sunday School class.
She was a member of Phi Mu sorority, Fayette County Teachers’ Association, Kentucky Education Association and National Education Association.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, W.J. Brummette, Denver, Colo.
The body was taken to the W.R. Milward Mortuary – Broadway, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the W.R. Milward Mortuary – Broadway, by the Rev. Franklin Owen. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery.

Beattyville, June 25 – Mrs. Sophia Seale, 76, died Sunday at her home after a long illness. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Arthur Seale, Austin, Ind.; Morton and Dennis Seale, Beattyville; one daughter, Mrs. George Noe, Beattyville; 30 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. (CST) Tuesday at the Newman Funeral Home by the Rev. Charlie Evans. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home.

3641 Mrs. Susan Ponder Dies At Ottawa
Mrs. Susan Paulina Ponder, age 97, of Livingston died Nov. 27 at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Bernice Martin, Ottawa. She also made her home with a son, Ben Ponder, Livingston.
Mrs. Ponder, a native of Maulden, Jackson, County, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Brummett. She moved with her family to Livingston while a young girl. Her husband, who she married at the age of 20, Mr. F.M. Ponder Sr., died in 1939.
She was one of 27 persons to organize the Union Baptist Church and was the last living charter member.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Winnie Kelly, Hamilton, Ohio; three sons, W.H. Ponder, Livingston; Dan J. Ponder, Livingston, 28 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Union Baptist Church with the Revs. Murphy and H.L. Ponder officiating.
Burial was at the Family Cemetery, Red Hill, Rockcastle County.
Grandsons served as pallbearers and granddaughters were flower girls.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Howard Funeral Home.

3642 Mrs. Vida Thompson, age 89, departed this life Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Laurel Creek Health Care. She was born May 28, 1926 to Robert and Amanda (Wilson) Murray. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Burning Springs Church of God.

She is survived by her children: Billy Wayne Thompson and wife Annie and David Lee Thompson and wife Daisy. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren: William Denver Allen Thompson and wife Tami and Vincent Thompson; 1 sister: Bobbie Colwell of Scottsburg, IN; a special friend: Aretta Smith.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Lloyd Thompson; her parents Robert and Amanda Murray; her children: Vanda and Wanda Thompson and these brothers and sisters: John Arthur Murray, Samuel Murray, Dallas Murray, Hobart Murray, William Murray, Elva Buttry, Maxie Rice, Mary Rice, Zola Fields, and Georgia Deaton.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 2:00 P. M. at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bennie Fields and Rev. Bobby Couch officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson Cemetery in Burning Springs Community.

Salix, Iowa – Mrs. William Tankersley, 64, Salix, died Tuesday in a Sioux City hospital.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at rose Hill Cemetery at Scotland, S.D. Burial will be under direction of the Wood Funeral Home of Sloan.
Mrs. Tankersley, the former Marjorie D. Goerndt, was born June 2, 1915, at Minnesota Lake, Minn.
She was married Sept. 14, 1964, at Little Falls, Minn. Mr. Tankersley died Dec. 15, 1977.
Mrs. Tankersley had worked at several jobs, retiring in 1977. She had lived at Salix for the last five years. Prior to that she lived at Mondamin for two years and had worked at Snyders Bend near Salix for three years. She had also lived in South Dakota.
She was a member of the Tyndall (S.D.) Lutheran Church and attended Salix Community Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Evelyne Hanson and Mrs. Madalyne Gigear, both of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Seiner of Avon, S.D.

Mrs. Polly Wilson, 80 years old, wife of William Wilson, died Thursday morning at ten o'clock at her home near Allensville.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Misses Mary, Margaret and Martha Wilson, all of Clark County, and Mrs. Lucy Irvin, Shelby County; three sons, Price, Walker and Phil Wilson, all of Shelby County; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Callahan, Jackson County, and several grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the home Saturday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. P.B. Akin. Burial will follow in the Winchester cemetery.

Mt. Vernon, Ky., Aug. 20 – (AP) – Waiving preliminary trail, Joe Clark, 22, was free under $2,000 bond today in connection with the fatal shooting Saturday of John Spivey, 21, near Livingston.
Authorities said the shooting followed a drinking bout. They said they were told Clark shot Spivey after the latter threatened him.

Virgil was a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII, attended First Baptist Church of Englewood, and an avid golfer. He retired from Duriron as a General Foreman with over 32 years of service. Virgil is survived by his wife of 53 years: Florence (Ponder) Mullins; one daughter and son-in-law: Debbie (Al) Warren of Clayton; two grandchildren: Adam (Trista) Warren of Clayton & Rachel (Pete) Jones of Butler Twp.; two great grandsons: Jasper Jones & A.J. Warren; three sisters: Irene Herron of London, KY, Wenona Brown of Richmond, KY & Fannie Hicks of Dayton; one brother: Danny Mullins of Centerville; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: William Daniel & Erma Francis (Reams) Mullins, daughter: Patricia Mullins; sister: Norma Busehelman; and brother: Benton Mullins.
