Elihu Reynolds Found It Necessary to Kill Joseph Watts In Perry County.
Jackson, Ky., Jan. 18. - (Special.) - Travelers from Hazard to-day brought news of another killing in Perry county, the first in many months. They stated that day before yesterday Joseph Watts went to the house of E. Reynolds in the lower part of the county, where he obtained some whisky and became very drunk. He soon became engaged in a row with Reynolds, and drew his revolver on him. Reynolds took the revolver away from the enraged man and begged him to be quiet and behave himself, but instead of doing this he drew a large knife, and cut Reynolds in the face, leaving a horrible gash. Reynolds then shot him with the pistol four times and left him dead on the floor.
The two men had been lifetime friends, and Watts had worked for Reynolds constantly for the past fourteen years.

Murder Warrant Issued For Prisoner: Rites Are Held For Marcum
Special to The Leader
Richmond, Ky., June 6 – Willie Webb, 45, who Friday shot and killed Earl Marcum, 28, at the home of Dewey Lakes in the Red Lick neighborhood, today was charged with willful murder in a warrant issued by Judge Vernon Leer and his examining trail set for next Friday in Madison county court.
Webb was arrested late Friday afternoon at his home on Red Lick several hours after he had called the office of Sheriff John McWilliams here and reported the killing.
He explained his failure to come here to surrender to the feat of relatives of Marcum. He had told Sheriff McWilliams that he would be in to surrender.
The shooting of Marcum is believed by officers to have been an indirect result of a fight which Marcum is said to have had with Arthur Webb, a brother of Willie, several years ago.
At the Madison county jail Willie Webb said that Marcum struck him and knocked him down and that “I shot him off of me.”
Funeral services for Marcum were held today at the family burial ground on Red Lick. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Willie Marcum, his wife and one child.

She liked working her puzzles and playing computer games, but she looked forward and enjoyed playing Nintendo games with her three youngest grandchildren. What they did not know she would warm up before they got there.

Willadene taught her family a lot of values that could be passed down through generations of her family, but the one value that was most important to her that she passed on to her family was her faith in Jesus Christ.

After graduation from Petal High School, he enrolled into the Army Air Corp (the precursor to the modern Air Force) and was stationed in Denver, Colorado where he met Nordeen Renae "Dee" Sanders. Bill and Dee were married on October 6, 1943 in Georgetown, Colorado. Of note is that Bill and Dee traveled back to Georgetown in December, 1999 and located their original marriage certificate in the basement of the Georgetown Courthouse.
Following their wedding, Bill deployed to England to serve as a crew member on a B-24 bomber, the Bungay Buckaroo, and survived over 25 missions in the European campaign. The bomber he served on led the 448th Bomb Group, the lead group on the D-Day invasion and is now enshrined at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona.
Upon Bill's return home from World War II, the Barlows resumed life together with Bill working with his father as they and a crew of relatives and friends built houses in Petal and Hattiesburg. He continued in this business until he started Barlow's Radio and TV Service where his wife Dee served as the bookkeeper and office manager. After some years of operating that business, he and Dee took over the ownership and operation of Petal Dry Cleaners, with all sons working with their parents. Their business prospered, even surviving a fire which destroyed much of the complex. Following the sale of the clearers, Bill worked for the city of Petal as their first building inspector, and later on the staff at Timberton Country Club.
Bill was a Christian and he and his wife were active members of Carterville Baptist Church, where he led the congregational singing on Sundays until they moved their membership to Temple Baptist Church in Petal. He later moved again to Petal-Harvey Baptist Church, serving as a deacon there. After a number of years at Petal-Harvey, he and his wife returned to Carterville Baptist Church where they remained faithful until death.
Through the years of their marriage, they were the parents of five sons: Jerry, Larry, Gary, Barry and Carey. He was proud of his boys and taught them to love the Lord and His Word. Bill also thanked the Lord for his daughter-in-laws: Lynne, Sandy, Dina and Janet, as well as their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill's legacy will live on through the values he taught his sons and their children.
