564	Earnest Sibert, 74, of Manchester, passed away Saturday January 30th, 2016 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard, KY. He is survived by his Fiance Hallie Hobbs, Manchester, and two sons Denvis Sibert and wife Cheryl, Winchester, KY, and Ernie Sibert and wife Cheri of London KY. He is also survived by one brother Harley Sibert of London KY and one sister Agnes Sams, Manchester KY. He also leaves 6 grandchildren; Sydney Sibert, Sarah Sibert, Sinclaire Sibert, Clay Sibert, Cassidy Sibert and Jordan Sibert as well as two great grandchildren, Harper Sibert and Phoenix Eversole to mourn his death. He is preceded in death by his parents Boyd and Florence Sibert and one sister Jackie Anderson. 567	East Liverpool, Ohio- Marceline L. Bennett, 84, of the Y & O Road passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 7:00 a.m. at the Calcutta Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. Born December 19, 1937 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Alice Christen Phelps. A lifetime area resident, she had retired from the East Liverpool City School System as a cafeteria worker. A Methodist by faith, Marceline was a Lifetime member of the VFW Post #66 and was a past president of the Daughters of America. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Bennett, whom she married October 7, 1971, on September 15, 2011. Survivors include three daughters, Teresa, Donna and Sandra and three sons James, Robert and Gregory. There are several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Lee Maple of Banning, California. Besides her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Norma Jean Denning; and one brother, Franklin Levi Phelps. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park. 568	Edgar A. Hayes Edgar A. Hayes, 73, of 616 Lincoln St., Piqua, died Monday at his residence. Surviving are his wife, Mary Elizabeth Thoma Hayes; five children, John of Columbus, James of New Jersey, Robert of Colorado, William of California and Mary Beth Hayes of Tennessee; a sister, Mrs. Paul (Lucille) Abernethy of California. He retired in February after 20 years as general manager of Reynelds Screen & Door in St. Paris. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Piqua, Piqua Elks, graduate of Hamilton High School, attended the University of Cincinnati, and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. Mass will be offered Thursday 10:30 a.m. at the church with Father Oscar Lauber officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services for Edgar Harry McDaniel, 55, Hamilton, who died Tuesday morning in the Eugene Hughes Memorial Hospital, will be conducted Thursday at 2 pm in the N Seventh St Church of Christ, with Ray Jones, minister, officiating. Burial will be held in the Darrtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the David Webb & Sons Funeral Home, Hamilton, Wednesday, after 4 pm.. Mr McDaniel, who had been in ill health for the last 11 years, was a patient in the Hughes Hospital 20 months before his death, which brings widespread sorrow to his family & friends. Born in Rockcastle Co, Ky, May 27, 1899, a son of W C & Frances Bullock McDaniel, he was educated in the schools there. A molder by trade, Mr McDaniel was married to Mrs Lucy Witt Downey on Nov 13, 1930, in Newport, Ky. He had resided in Butler Co for the last 30 years. An employee of the General Machinery Co (now the Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corp) for 30 years until his retirement 11 years ago. Mr McDaniel was associated with the L B Price Co for several years. Active in the affairs of the N Seventh St Church of Christ, he was an elder of the church & particularly interested in work with the younger members of the church. He was also a member of the Fairfield Grange. 570	Edith Caragio, 96, Lewiston Feb 23, 2010 Edith died from heart failure Sunday morning, Feb. 21, 2010, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston with her daughter Carol at her side. She was born April 2, 1913, at Patrick, Ark., to Bertha and John Smith. In 1915, the family moved to the Joseph, Ore., area and then in 1927 they moved to Lewiston, where she graduated from Lewiston High School in 1932. The "Class of '32" had many class luncheons throughout the years that she was instrumental in organizing. She really enjoyed visiting with her classmates until just a few years ago when most of them had passed on. In July 1932, she married Frank Caragio and had one daughter, Carol, wife of Ray Servatius. She had three grandchildren, Randy and Tammy Servatius of Clarkston, Cheryl and Forrest Renslow of Spokane, and Rick and Liz Servatius of Scottsdale, Ariz. She had six great-grandchildren, Kelli, Ryan, Kyle, Katie, Ashley and Tiffany; and one great-great-grandchild, Ronin. She had one brother, Jack Smith of Tacoma, and a niece, Jacquie and Earl Stroschein of Lewiston. She really enjoyed it last fall when we all got together and she had her picture taken with the five generations. She was so proud of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, brother John Smith and sister Opal Steward. After graduating high school she worked at Curley's restaurant in North Lewiston and the Corner Fountain in the Lewiston Orchards. She attended the first class for licensed practical nursing at St. Joseph Hospital and graduated in 1951. She worked at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for 25 years, the last five doing special duty nursing. She enjoyed bowling and was on a league for several years. She really took pride in her flowers, and spent many hours watering and taking care of them with her good friend and neighbor of many years, Glenella Finnell. Frank and Edith had a cabin at Lake Chatcolet, and spent many of their retirement years there fishing and visiting with friends who also had places on the lake. She was a member of the Orchards Christian Church and was active in their guild. She spent her last two years at the Royal Plaza Retirement Center, and was very happy with her apartment and all the new friends she had acquired. Funeral services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in the Lewiston Orchards. 573	Edna E. Greer, 79, native of Kentucky Attica – Edna E. Greer, 79, a former resident of 1112 Division St., died at 7:15 p.m. Friday in Murdock Manor in Lafayette where she had lived the past 4 1/2 years. Mrs. Greer was born May 18, 1911, in Manchester, Ky. She moved to Williamsport in 1923 from Kentucky. She moved to Attica in 1958. She married Robert C. Greer Jan. 9, 1927, and he died Sept. 28, 1988. Mrs. Greer attended schools in Fogertown, Ky. She worked at the Radio Materials Corp. in Attica for 23 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Attica Assembly of God. She served on the church board. Her hobbies were crocheting and sewing. 574	Edna F. Ponder Edna Mae Friend Ponder, 86, of Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of Danville, died Monday in Florida. Born June 25, 1920, in Paint Lick, she was the daughter of the later Charles B. and Dora Dean Calico Friend. She was an artist and a member of Wilderness Trace Art League, Homemakers Club, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. She was director of the Alumni Association at East Stroudsburg University. She also was a Red Cross director in Eastern Pennsylvania and past president of the Pennsylvania Hospital Auxiliary. She was the widow of Seldon Ponder. Survivors include two sons, Joe Ponder of Seattle, Wash., and Roy Ponder of Fairbanks, Alaska; a daughter, Patricia Ponder Smith of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a sister, Sally Dee Elrod of Madisonville, Tenn.; and six grandchildren. She loved quilting, genealogy, cooking and especially her fellowship Sunday school class at the First United Methodist Church. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and her great grandson. 581	Edwina Meitzen of Lafayette, longtime owner of the Dayton Tribune with her husband, George, who survives, died Wednesday at the Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville. She fell victim to cancer at the age of 77. At her request, no services are planned. She was born on Dec. 19, 1931, in Dallas, Texas. She learned typesetting in her parents' printing shop, and earned certification as a journeyman linotype operator when she was just 18. The Meitzens settled in Lafayette in 1962 and took jobs with The Oregonian. Two years later, they bought the Tribune and its affiliated printing shop. The weekly newspaper was launched by local bankers in 1912. They saw it as a way to help the city prosper. Not being newspaper people themselves, the bankers hired a series of publishers to run the paper over the years before selling the enterprise to the Meitzens in 1964. Meitzen, widely known as "Eddie," served as editor of the paper until June 2006, when she and her husband ceased publication. The following year, they shuttered the print shop as well and went into retirement. In addition to having a long career in publishing and printing, she also had a long career in public service. She was appointed to the Lafayette Planning Commission in 1969, then joined the city council. She became Lafayette's first woman mayor in 1973, serving until 1976. She renewed her government service in Lafayette in 1979 and served another stint on the city council in 2003-04. Most recently, she served on the city's budget committee from 2006 through 2008. She was active in the Dayton Jayceettes and Dayton Chamber of Commerce. She was one of the founders of Lafayette Heritage Days and served as festival queen in 1999. And she was a SMART reading volunteer at Dayton Elementary School. We are sorry to part with comrade Gabbard, but we submit to the will of Him who hath said "He doth all things well." We trust that the death of our comrade is but the transplanting of his life and abode to al and which is free from toils and cares, where his soul shall find rest, among the faithful comrades, who are now in the realms of eternal bliss, where their sorrows will be known no more. Lucille was born on March 23, 1935 in Berea, Madison County, Kentucky to the late Reba and Harry Botkin. She worked alongside her husband of 65 years, Jack, in ministry. They pastured churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, Arizona, Arkansas and Louisiana. She was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God and active in the Unity Sunday School Class and the Geneva Circle. Lucille retired from Cleveland City Schools. In addition to her parents and her dear husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Ledford and her grandson, Tyler Hugh Carver.
