- Born in Cass, Arkansas October 1, 1931 to Cloe and Daisy Turner. Died September 8, 2013 in Grass Valley, California after a brief illness. Ralph was a long-time resident of Grass Valley after moving his family here from the Bay Area in 1962.
His career included working as a certified aircraft mechanic for United Airlines, a water distribution operator for Nevada Irrigation District, manager of Cal Gas in Grass Valley, and owner/operator of RT Enterprises, repairing gas vapor meters before retiring.
He loved fishing, prospecting, traveling, restoring antiques and reading. He was happiest riding his tractor and repairing or appraising donations to Hospice of the Foothills.
Survived by his loving spouse Jan; children Christine Turner, Martha Turner, Douglas Turner (Helen), Ellen Turner (Robert Hermiston); stepdaughter Whitney Mayfield; sister Alice Fern Turner; grandchildren Django Barbato, Shawn Turner (Brandy), and Natalie Harris (Michael); great-grandchildren Hunter, Alexis & Loghan Turner and Evelyn & Gideon Harris.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Ray Turner, sister Willie Close, and twin sisters May Burke and June Arnold.
According to his wishes, Ralph will be cremated and no services will be held. In honor of Ralph's twenty-four year volunteer work for Hospice of the Foothills, the family requests remembrances may be made in his name to this organization at 11270 Rough and Ready Hwy, Grass Valley, CA95945.
