- Death Takes William H. Smith
One Time School Teacher and Late Business Man of Berea Succumbs at College Hospital.
William H. Smith, Berea grocery store owner, died of leukemia at 5:30 p.m., June 17, at the College Hospital. He was born in Harlan County, March 15, 1876, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Smith. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Victor Dick, of Berea.
Since he came to Berea twenty years ago, Mr. Smith has taught school at Wallaceton and late ran a grocery store on Adams Street. He had been in ill health for more than a year, but was not bedfast until recently. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. today at the Rominger Funeral Home. John Van Winkle, Carl Ford, Guy Robinson, Marvin Conley, and Clint Hensley will serve as pallbearers.
Interment will be in the Berea Cemetery.
