Letcher Cty death abstracts says Jemima's mother was an Abigail Osborne, dau of James who married a Zachariah Wells of Loudon Cty Va. 1st cousin of Easter Osborne who married Isaac Richmond. or Another Zachariah arrived in the New river Valley in 1774 as an Indian scout. In 1778-1798 there are court records, tax lists and deeds with this Zachariah. In 1798, Zachariah sold his farm on New river next to "old James Sturgill" to Francis Sr. (old James' son). Zachariah moved to Wise Cty. Va. near Appalachia. He married a Rebecca LNU. When John Sturgill and wife Jemima moved from Ky. to Wise in 1816. They bought the land from James Sturgill next to Zachariah Wells. Some thought this Zachariah was brother to Jemima or her dad. 1 Zachariah was a Rev war soldier enlisted Loudon Cty. Va 7/8/1776. He filed a pension application in Sullivan Cty. Tenn. in 1825. He married Abagail Osborne. We do not think these are her parents. Moved to Wise Co. about 1812-15. Moved to Harlan Co. Ky. about 1845. Married second wife Jane ___ about 1855 and moved back to Wise Co. Buried at Crackers Neck near Dig Stone Gap Va.
