      We wonder if he had a different mother from Ben and Samuel as they were 17 and 18. Isaiah was 10 and came to the area later.
      John stayed 10 years and moved to Tenn.
      His family is found in Texas.

      10/19/1779 Guilford Cty deed bk 2 pge 428. He and wife sold 250 acres on waters of Alamance to George Coble.
      This is the last record in Guilford Cty. for John.

      1782 Wilkes tax list Capt Sam Johnson district shows as John Fipps

      7/29/1783 Wilkes deed bk P pge 262 purchased 10 acres for 20 lbs from James Mulkey from Phipps lower line down to Praters creek

      7/12/1787 Wilkes census Capt Nall district, taken by Ambrose Hamon, shows John with 3 males and 4 females

      10/20/1790 wilkes deed bk b page 149. John sells to Alexander Smith for 150 lbs; 100 acres on waters of New Rover on N side of Prater creek witnessed by Samuel Phipps, brother.

      Last record in Wilkes for John.

      He is said to die in Tenn. after 1810
