Susan Davis was born about 1836, probably in Laurel County, Kentucky.
She married Thomas Phipps in 1856. In her marriage bond, her name is listed as Sarah Davis, but in other records including other records of the 1856 marriage, her name is listed as Susan Davis. She and Thomas had at least 7 children born between 1856 and 1878.
She died about 1879, probably in Madison County, Kentucky. In the 1880 Madison County census, Thomas is listed as widowed.

1- Nannie Salina Phipps Warner Jacobs (1856-1940).
2- Robert Phipps (1858-1878).
3- Margaret Phipps Wylie (1861- ).
4- Martha Ann Phipps Murphy (1864- ).
5- James Thomas Phipps (1865-1930).

7- Amanda Mae Phipps Hunter (1878-1944).
