- Note on Find a Grave:
-m-2-5-1857 Maranda Wilson
John's new headstone & plaque has him born 1836 but census reports shows him one year older than brother Philip. Owsley Co birth records show Philip -b-1836 & that's the birth year on Philip's headstone. John's original stone only listed SGT Co C 47th Ky Inf with no birth or death date.
John & Maranda had the nine children listed on the back of their stone. I've found info on all of the children with the exception of Mary H Strong. Daughter, Sarah Frances married 1st, Henry Morris -b-5-1866 -d-abt-1900 as Sarah is a widow in the 1900 census but their youngest son, Willie was listed as being nine in the 1910 census. Sarah later -m-3-28-1911 Thomas Patton. The burials of Fred & Thomas weren't found. Sarah is buried as a Patton in Butler Co, Ohio.
The stone lists daughter, Emma Mahalia as married a Fransriggi but all census records have her married to William Frank Dorton & she's buried as a Dorton in Colorado.
My understanding is a Strong relative in Booneville had the new stones put in. John is my gg-uncle, brother to my gg-grandfather, Philip.
